"Well - here's the good, the bad and the ugly. We first arrived jet lagged as all get out and were greeted nicely by the front staff. Check in was easy. We paid extra for a tower view hotel and upon entering our room, the view was magnificent. That was quickly shrouded but the stifling heat in the room! It was stagnant and so very warm. I searched around the room for a thermostat and located it but it wouldn't turn on. I called down to the front desk and was informed that they do NOT have air con - why have a thermostat? At this point we started to look around and saw various signs that the hotel needs some upgrades. On the bathroom, what was a towel heater rack no longer worked. The front of the bathtub had a painted wood panel over it and was chipping away leaving large areas of open wood with splinters. The tile was pitted and needed extra love. Lastly, the big one: we had do not disturb lit the entire time we were there as we prefer no service an no one in rooms while we are out sightseeing. On day two, we arrived back to our room and noticed the bed had been made and freshened up. However, the bathroom look like it had been left in a hurry. The trashing was in the middle of the of the room. The floor mat and used towels that were hanging in the bathroom were removed but no new ones were left. I complained to the front desk @ which promised to respond and I haven't heard back regarding why they entered without notice."

"quiet area, got a free room upgrade, we were able to drop our luggage off upon arrival before able to check in, very friendly staff, right next to the train station and common bus stop. also for bonus there is a grocery store right next to the hotel and an asian grocery store right across the street 10/10 would book again."

"Absolutely wonderful stay in London made even better by the staff of The Strand Palace. From our very dapper doorman Anthony at arrival and early check in with Saloni to the kindness of Mohammed our porter at departure, the hotel did not disappoint. The rooms were clean and well stocked. The food and service at Haxell’s breakfast buffet and dinner were excellent. The hotel is convenient and central to London and made it easy to get around the city. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back. "

"Room is wonderful but if you have mobility issues ask for handicapped because tub is extremely high. No luggage rack. Now the food was just awful other than breakfast. No food service other than breakfast on Sunday. So good luck finding a dinner because nothing available in the hood. Eli the step down restaurant doesn’t serve sandwiches or fries but the special of the day was trout belly with rice. I had a pasta dish and a salad comprised mainly of baby arugula you would be surprised at the cost but portion was similar to a tasting menus. Advice to owners hire a chef who will cook fish and chips and Shepherds Pie. Then bar was attached to the reservations, only restaurant so if you wanted to come and have a gin and tonic you felt out of place in tennis shoes. Hotel staff consisted of very nice, hard working people but I didn’t have interaction with most of them, HOWEVER at checkout you will find the mandatory service charge which was explained as tipping the staff! I tip for service. They added on taxes well beyond what I paid for when booking. Take a pass and stay in a tourist area."

"The check in experience was rough. Using the tablet and being sent to a different building to stay. I couldn’t get into my room until several attempts. The window began to fall apart as I was trying to open and close it. There was hair in the bed and in the bathroom. The toilet had problems flushing. I could hear every word people were saying outside my door. So yeah not a good stay."

"Great stay! Well located close to stations with great links into London. The staff were great, the accomodation was clean, tidy and the bed comfortable. The only feed back was some drain unblocking is required as the sink and shower in room 107 was back filling a lot."

"Could have more staff in the restaurant and bar in the evening. We had an early meal but took a while for our drinks and food."
