Everything was going swimmingly and good value for money. Rooms take a bit of getting used to and altho small they work. Excellent view over airport. BUT one of the drawbacks of being cheap is that it attracts large groups. A coachload of Spaniards descending on the small place all at once wasn't too much bother other than you with the lifts (reception is on the 3rd floor). But a large party of college age children who simply didn't go to bed, roaming from room to room (and even knocking on doors that were not of their party) was dreadful. And actually party is a pretty good description of the mayhem till the early hours. Plus of course they all descended on the small breakfast room at the same time. This might have been a good review emphasising the good value but no sleep is no sleep so it is added to the avoid list thatseems to have been prevalent at our French airport hotels. Old adage, you get what you pay for.

We picked this hotel because of its location; less than 5 minutes walk to the promenade and in the old town and its price. We had booked a deluxe double room as the site showed that it had twin beds. However, when we arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon to check in we were advised that the room was not a twin room - rather a double bed with two duvets. The room was small with no balcony and the windows were difficult to open. The room needs an upgrade and the furnishings are a bit worn.

A decent place to stay with a good sized room and comfy bed, useful kitchen and balcony. We’d stayed in Nice a few times so this time decided to stay outside the city to be close to the airport and St Augustin railway station for day trips along the Riviera - and this hotel works perfectly for that. The tram from Grand Arenas gets you into Nice within fifteen minutes. There aren’t many restaurants in this business district but the Carrefour mini supermarket is a few minutes away for self-catering. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel well-maintained except from a stinky bathroom. It didn’t detract from our stay. Worth considering if budget and convenience for the airport and railway/tram system are more important than the romance of staying in town.
