Wake up to sweeping Akaroa Harbour views from this peaceful and private 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom retreat, surrounded by beautiful gardens above the village.
Te Whare Tūrama is made for slowing down — morning coffee on the deck, a barbecue overlooking the water, a glass of wine in the garden and cosy evenings in front of the wood-burning fire.
THE SPACE
The main house features a comfortable queen bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, all enjoying the spectacular harbour outlook. Doors from both the bedroom and living area open onto the large deck — perfect for breakfast, a lazy afternoon or an evening barbecue.
The second queen bedroom is located in a separate private studio, complete with its own ensuite and deck. This setup is particularly well suited to two couples, friends travelling together, or families with older children who enjoy having their own space.
Please note: because the second bedroom is in a separate building, the property isn't ideal for families with babies or very young children who need to sleep close to their parents.
Outside, the garden changes beautifully with the seasons, with peaceful places to sit and a herb and vegetable garden that guests are welcome to enjoy.
You'll also have off-street parking for two cars, Wi-Fi, two Smart TVs, a BBQ, washing machine and dryer, and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for an easy, comfortable stay.
LOCATION
Te Whare Tūrama is tucked away above Akaroa while still being close to the village, waterfront, cafés and restaurants.
Caldera Vineyard is directly across the road — just a one-minute walk away, making a cellar-door visit or meal incredibly easy.
Akaroa village and the waterfront are around a 10–15 minute walk downhill. The walk home is steep, so guests who'd rather skip the climb may prefer to drive back.
Nearby walking tracks take you through native bush towards the waterfront, with tūī, kererū and pīwakawaka often making an appearance along the way.
PERFECT FOR
Couples, two couples travelling together, friends, or families with older children looking for somewhere peaceful and private from which to enjoy Akaroa and Banks Peninsula.
Come for the harbour views. Stay for the peace, privacy and slow mornings on the deck.
