"overall, this was a great spot for 3 adults traveling! the area has tons of food options and convenience stores nearby. the hotel had only been open for 2 days when we stayed so the staff was still getting acquainted with the space and waiting on some supplies but overall the hotel was great! the room was the smallest we stayed in during our japan trip, but it was clean and comfortable. easy 15-20 minute walk to dotonbori area, very easy to navigate! 5-10 minute walk to trains to access JR...

"Overall is good except the shower are shared by male and female. Our girls were afraid to go to the washroom by themselves. But all in all the property is so affordable, clean with nice staff that speak english."

"This place isn’t close to the stations but it’s very handy to see the shrines and other places like restaurants and convenience store. It doesn’t get 5 stars cause there isn’t even one cup in the room. Had to make coffee in a paper cup without a spoon and supply your own coffee! Nice view from the window. " The property is effectively brand new so everything is in good condition. There were a couple of negative things with the building one was the flooring on the ground and first floors were basically smoothed concrete with settling cracks visible and in the restaurant the entrance to the kitchen was grubby as dirt had become ingrained into the concrete, the other negative was the heat in the communal corridors. "It was good. Check-in is a little weird. Staff was a little obnoxious, probably due to La Gaige barrier but could make it work. While most of the hostal was clean, Stairs were always dirty. Lots of Lint. And second night was a little hard to sleep on because neighbors were very noisy. Whenever they closed the door it would make a big bang and they spoke loud. Not really hotels fault but it is good to share this. Food around was great. Yeah, there are a lot of drunk guys but they are minding...

"1) Fridge was not cold at all 2) Public bath was out of service and it doesn't seem that the hotel owner planned to renovate anytime soon 3) There was only one room key 4) The drying machine was not cleaned/maintained properly by the staff, so our clothes were still wet after an hour's drying. We paid about 40,000 yen per night for this terrible service and facility, and I'm wondering why the hotel has the audacity to claim itself a 3-star? "

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Pocket for several days while visiting Kyoto. It is located in such a convenient area (walkable distance to Nishiki and transit). The property itself is clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful! It is definitely worth staying here for the price! The only complaint I have come from the other foreigners/tourists. Please be respectful of the space especially when maintaining cleanliness as this is a shared space. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend Pocket hotel! "

"This is in a prime area of Kyoto, but the beds are a bit stiff."

"Facility's shared bathing area is very clean, had a passcode for the female bath so it felt fairly safe. Free laundry machines are available but the drier is not very good so it took very long for all my clothes to dry. One of the front desk lady was a bit cold when we arrive to store our luggage. The hotel is located in a smaller alley, but overall the location is convenient as it is within walking distance to the Kyoto station. "

Besides, it could be noisy in the morning or late at night; you can hear everything, which is why I was using my earplugs all the time.
