Hotel Reykjavik Saga

10/10 Excellent

"Great clean nice hotel on a Main Street walking distance to just about everything in Reykjavik. Would definitely stay here again. Everything was great. If I had to provide some advice on improvements since the hotel looks to be a fairly new one: 1) room temperature thermostat and lighting was way too complicated to figure out - super high tech but we just wanted to turn the heat and air off but couldn’t. 2) keep the gym open later and open it earlier. Tourists like to work out early in the AM or late at night when their family is still asleep and the day hasn’t started."

Center Hotels Plaza

"We had an excellent stay at Center Hotels - Plaza! We chose an 8th floor room with our own balcony, which are all on the back side of the hotel, which helped as I know others have said the plaza facing rooms can get a lot of noise from the plaza itself as there are bars/restaurants. The room was super clean, beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was large and really nice as well! The only thing is that the rooms get verrrry hot during the day when the sun is shining, we would keep the curtains closed and it would still heat up a ton - luckily we would just open the balcony door and the small window and get the fan blowing and it would cool off quickly, but I could imagine in a room without a balcony door to open and only a small window it would be way too hot. We had shared it was our honeymoon and they left us cards and some treats in the room which was really sweet of them. Tough that there's no parking, but there is a garage nearby and lots of street parking 1-2 blocks behind the hotel which didn't end up being that bad. The location is incredible, the restaurants in the plaza with the patios are really fun and convenient, and the whole city feels very walkable from this hotel! We would definitely stay here again next time we are in Reykjavik!"

"First time in a pod, there were two of us and it was tight but the bed was very comfortable. Great for 1 person or 2 tidy people if you plan to just sleep there. The lobby was cute and had seating, games, a community fridge, microwave, and drinks for sale. Check in was a little bumpy since I booked on a third party site and wasn't provided the hotel confirmation number needed for check-in. The hot tub looked nice but we didn't have time to try it. Shared bathrooms were very cute, clean, and well stocked. Would recommend to quiet laid back travelers."

"Overall, this hotel was just right for our needs for a two-night stay in Reykyavik. The room was minimalistic but roomy enough for a family of 4, I liked the heavy curtains that kept the light out as it was still daylight at midnight. I would have appreciated a night lamp, and an outlet next to the bed so I can charge my phone near me as opposed to having to walk to the other side of the room to switch off the light/put my phone to charge. The bathroom was functional and just fine, it had a hairdryer as well. The coffee maker only worked if someone was pushing the button continuously while the coffee was being made, and the lid of the thrashcan wouldn't open with the foot pedal, it had to be opened manually. While the room was OK, there was a bad smell upon entry into the building, it smelled like bad fish, it seemed to be coming from some thrashbags piled up on the right side of the entrance (wish that someone took those outside but there is no staff at the property that you could talk to really, checkin and checkout are all online). It is not a luxury stay but the room was clean, the bed was great and although no breakfast on site, there are grocery stores and restaurants nearby."
