the staff and owners of Woodley Park were welcoming and very friendly. It was a great visit and the desk hosts were so helpful to guide and suggest food and local sites. Its close enough to the metro and a few stops from the Capital Id recommend it to anyone visiting if you want to stay outside the hustle of downtown and the Mall.
very convenient to the conference at Marriott
breakfast very limited - maybe whole fruit and pastries
not available to individuals with mobility issues

Underdelivers on the promise of B&B
The value proposition of a B&B is quite simple, at least in theory: Offer your guest the space and comfort for a good night's rest and pamper them with a nice breakfast in the morning. Sadly, Woodley Park Guest House underdelivers on both. My room, on the lower level, was pretty much in the basement with only small windows (facing a wall) on the upper portion of the wall. Worse yet, the vintage of the building meant that I could hear every movement of the person(s) above me, waking me up several times over the course of the night. The weird AC system, blowing all night despite moderate temperatures, presumably to combat mold, also did not help. And guests cannot control the system. Still, I woke up optimistic in the morning, assuming that the kind of yummy breakfast I've come to expect from B&Bs would make up for at least some of these shortcomings. Boy was I wrong. Breakfast was shockingly basic, with a couple of types of bread, two types of jam, a small bowl of fruit (to share), some yoghurt, and a variety of cereals. Forget cheese, forget cold cuts, etc. There was only one "hot entree", oatmeal on my first morning and pancakes on the second. The selection of juice and teas was seriously limited and decaf coffee was only served on demand. Frankly, you can get a better breakfast staying at a mid-range motel these days.
Great location, the facility is in pretty good shape. But it doesn't quite have the host/hostess-y aspect of a true B&B, and some unhelpful attitude on the part of one staffer (the young lady) didn't help. A nice experience, but not quite what you'd hope for given the price.
Excellent guest house, The only minor thing that could be improved was the breakfast. More food choices and eggs that are not cooked too long (extremely hardboiled eggs with dark edges of the yolk) would be great. The location is fantastic.
A very nice, efficient, & well-located guest house
This is a very, very well-run boutique B&B type of hotel that's located in a great spot. The owner and I had a fun discussion over a wonderful European-style breakfast. Don't hesitate to stay here.
The Guest House was extremely comfortable, both for the overall atmosphere and my bed. The guests and staff were all very friendly, yet not intrusively so. The location was exceptional.
I booked last minute for a last minute trip and was hoping all the good reviews were a good indicator of the quality of the space... and they were! The look and feel of the place is more of a high end small hotel, with an acute attention to details and comfort. The rooms are not spacious in the traditional American hotel, but more reminiscent of a charming Parisian hotel.
Breakfast is served around a communal table while the owner takes genuine interest in every guest's story. While I was there, most of the guests had stumbled onto this place while in DC for a convention and were all pleasantly surprised. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a charming, quiet house in DC.
Few hotels offer a desk and adequate lighting to do work, so this guest house was a great place for my husband to work while I did research at the Library of Congress. International guests talked over breakfast in a polite and respectful atmosphere, and it was really interesting to meet the owner of the guest house and specialists from other countries. Kelly and Angela at the desk helped us figure out transportation and were gracious and helpful.
