2/10 Terrible

"Start off with the reception when we arrived, she wasn’t welcoming at all very rigid and unhelpful as she directed on two occasions to the wrong location (our room and the spa) The room was very dated and the bed was too small for two adults and the pillows very uncomfortable. As for the spa (we had booked a treatment) staff were also not welcoming, had to wait a long time to get seen . Could hear all noises from the outside during the treatment which wasn’t very pleasant. Staff in general are very cold and withdrawn. Something you don’t expect when you come for weekend night away. Will not be booking at the imperial again. "

"This is a hotel in a perfect location. It is so beautiful to look into the bay and so wonderful to be able to go on the most incredible coastal walks from the doorstep. Great to take the boat to Salcombe and explore from there. The room was lovely, but we were on the ground floor and looked out onto the bay, but also the decked area; so it wasn't very private. The"

"Lovely family friendly hotel. Only down sides upon arrival we were asked to pay a deposit per night for potential damages even though we had fully paid in advance of our stay. This wasn't mentioned when booking and we were told we couldn't check in until we made the payment. Hotel was noisy at night as we were on the second floor and had people above us, below us and all around. The fire doors in the corridors slam constantly through the night with people returning to their rooms at all hours. We had an adjoining door in our room which just had a bolt on it which went into someone else's hotel room which worried me when travelling alone with a young child and wasn't mentioned upon booking. We had noisy people in the next room with young children who kept trying to open the adjoining door. Unfortunately the indoor pool , changing rooms and spa facilities were unavailable during our stay due to refurbishment. They do not have enough sun loungers around the pool and people fill the ones available with towels to save them hours before they swim. breakfast was great with a good choice of pastries, cereal, fruit and hot food. My daughter loved the outdoor pool. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved it is a dog friendly hotel. In a great location right by the beach and a lovely park. We enjoyed the walk down the pier, shops and restaurants. There's a lovely library area in the hotel and we also had a safe inside the wardrobe in our room. We would stay again."

"This hotel provides wonderful amenities The pool is warm and deep enough to swim, just not a full sized pool, and there is a jacuzzie sauna and steam room. In good weather there is a sun lounging garden also available. I loved the keyless door locking system where you just need to key in your personal number. I found the staff to be professionally friendly and happy to help. There is no breakfast provided, but you can get vending services and free ice. The sea front and restaurants and cafes are only a 10 minute walk away. Convenience store less than five minutes the other way with pubs etc nearby. This hotel is undergoing light maintenance at a slow pace. I felt the price paid, and the available amenities more than compensated for other little niggles with perhaps some tired furnishings and paintwork. This is my first choice to stay in Torquay on a budget."

"Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were very nice, pool and spa were lovely and food was good. My only complaint about the room would be that the bed was too hard. The hotel is on a steep hill so if, like me, you have health issues you'll need to get a taxi back from the centre of Torquay."
