"We stayed here 1 night for easy access to Nintendo Museum. Check in is 4pm and our reservation was 4.30, so we were worried it'd be a bit tight. We let the host know and the team were great at getting us checked in quickly and smoothly and set up for our museum trip. Honestly we're a bit sad we only stayed 1 night! It feels like staying in someone's house and the local neighborhood is quiet but still has restaurants and shops nearby. Walking along the canal in the morning we had a lovely chat with a local. Wish we'd stayed more than 1 night so that we could get a feel for Ogura, which is close to Kyoto and Osaka, but still feels like staying where people live. Lovely little find this!"

GUESTHOUSE KYOUTO UJI RIVER I

"I booked a female-only Japanese style room and I was put in a (cheaper) bunk bed room and 3 middle aged men showed up. I advised that I had booked a female only room and the host just said sorry only mixed room available. The property does not have a dryer as stated- so I washed my clothes and they were wet at 10pm and I had no way of drying them. The beds do not have plug sockets by the beds, just on the wall so they don’t reach to the top bunk. The check in process involves you speaking to someone on video chat. It was overall bad. The place was also hard to find in the dark"

"We chose this stay to make a visit to a nearby nighttime festival easier. We were very pleased to be greeted with a friendly welcome, and some English, which was an immediate comfort given our limited Japanese skill. The hotel is modest, but the room was clean and comfortable. And quiet. It is conveniently located to the train station and many restaurants and tourist locations. They kindly held our luggage for us after checkout, so we could visit to our local destinations without carrying our luggage. Our stay was short, so we did not need to take advantage of any of the accommodation such as laundry, but the shower was a welcome treat with great water pressure. Recommend!"
