Things to do in Sorrento Coast

Piazza Tasso is Sorrento’s main square. You will more than likely visit this large open space ringed by restaurants, pavement cafés and pastel buildings more than once during your visit to the resort town.

Marina Grande is a small traditional fishing port that sits underneath the limestone cliffs on which the old town of Sorrento is perched. Away from the traffic of the streets above, this sheltered bay enjoys a much gentler pace of life. Come here for a swim or watch local fishermen at work.

Sorrento Lift offers a convenient alternative to climbing up and down the steep walkways that link the Sorrento city center and coastline. Baths of Queen Giovanna (Bagni della Regina Giovanna) is the curious name for an emerald pool of seawater enclosed by limestone cliffs and a rocky beach. Hike to a nearby archeological site for a great place to watch the sunset over the Bay of Naples.

Piazza Lauro is a little oasis in the heart of Sorrento. The oblong plaza is full of trees and is surrounded by shops and apartment buildings. Come to Piazza Lauro to sit, relax and watch locals going about their day.

Sorrento’s coastline is pockmarked by valleys gouged out of the landscape by water thousands of years ago. One of the most striking ravines is in the center of town: Deep Valley of the Mills (Il Vallone dei Mulini). Located next to Piazza Tasso, it is a picturesque sight that is worth investigating.
