「Unresponsive host. Has to reach out to Expedia so we can get an access code to enter the property. The key are in a lockbox and make sure you will get the lockbox code prior to coming to the property. The house is okay to spend a night. WiFi is good.」

「This was a great place to stay. We had our family, 10 of us, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Out of 5 places we stayed this was the kids favorite. Plenty of room and great hot tub. We found everything that we needed for our stay from all kitchen items to fans. I am a very picky sleeper. Normally on vacation I don't sleep well and usually can't wait to get in my own bed. Not here. I slept like a baby. I even pulled up the bedding to see if I could see the mattress brand incase it is possible to get...

「The cabin was in a beautiful location, clean and check in/out was super easy. It was a nice fit for our family of 4 including 2 teenage boys. The only downside was the water temperature in the shower changed from cold to hot with no warning!」

「Very nice cottage. Comfortable with all desired amenities. Great place to get away and feel closer to the surroundings. Only caution is on warm days, the cottage has no AC and can get very warm.」

「Lovely cabin :well appointed: comfortable bed. But long drive from town 28km and half of it is (currently) a gravel road. It’s a beautiful place. We walked across field to waterfall. Views of the volcano. Nice respite but know you have a drive from the highway/town」

「We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The only downside was that it felt a bit chilly, and we couldn’t find any instructions on how to adjust the heating. The property is quite remote, so we strongly recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to avoid getting stuck in a snowstorm, as we nearly did. Despite this, we highly recommend this property—it’s a fantastic place to stay!」

「If you like being out of the way Afternoon Cottages is a great jumping off point for adventuring. It is well equipped and very clean. It has a great price point and very basic. It worked great for us because it was simply a place to cook dinner and sleep. You have access to all the necessities about 25 minutes away in Hella. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.」

「I cannot recommend this property enough! We visited for 8 days in late June/early July 2026, and the view from the wrap-around glass patio was breathtaking every single day, morning and evening. Because of the shape of the valley, we would routinely see completely different weather patterns West, North, and East. Maybe it was snowing on the mountain across the lake, raining at the property, and sunny out West... all at the same time!It's only a 25-30min drive West to Akranes to pick up groceries...
