College Place, Quiet City Apartment for Work Stays
Summary:
One bedroom and one bathroom, sleeping up to four: a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed for two in the living room, though it's most comfortable for one or two people. The apartment is in central Southampton with a private double-door entrance, a work desk, quick Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washer, and buses from the stop outside. Bedford Place's cafés and restaurants are about 5 minutes' walk and the Mayflower Theatre about 14.
The Space:
Sleeping
UK bed sizes: a double is similar to a US full.
Bedroom: double bed, in a small room best for one person or a couple.
Living room: sofa bed for two, with a firm mattress that suits a night or two.
We provide bed linen, bath towels, extra pillows and blankets, and blackout blinds in the bedroom.
Bathroom
One bathroom with a bathtub and a shower over it. A hair dryer and toiletries are included.
Kitchen and dining
Oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, with pans, baking trays, plates, cutlery and wine glasses. The dining table seats four.
Living room
The lounge shares one open-plan room with the kitchen. Settle on the sofa in front of the big smart TV, or spread out at the dining table for a meal or some work.
Everyday practicals
Work desk with quick Wi-Fi, washer plus a clothes airer, iron and board, a fan for summer, radiators you control room by room, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. Most guests here stay about a week, often for work or study, and the set-up makes that easy.
Travelling with children
Children are welcome, and a few books and toys are there for them. The apartment is one floor up by the stairs. No cot or high chair is provided, so pack a travel cot for a baby.
Pets
Sorry, this apartment does not accept pets.
Good to know
The building's main door can be stiff to open. Guests say the apartment itself is quiet and well insulated from the street, which helps after a long day.
Guest Access:
Guests have the whole apartment. Self check-in by lockbox from 4 pm to 9 pm, check-out by 10 am. There's no private parking: pay bays are directly in front of the building, and Ordnance Road car park is the next turning on the left.
The Neighborhood:
College Place is on the north side of Southampton city centre, near the Civic Centre, the central library and green parks. On foot: Bedford Place 5 minutes, Watts Park 10, the O2 Guildhall 12, the Mayflower Theatre 14, Southampton Central and St Mary's Stadium 18, WestQuay 19 and the Bargate 20. A supermarket is a couple of minutes away. By car, the New Forest at Lyndhurst is about 22 minutes, and the docks about 8.
Getting Around:
A bus stop is outside the building. Southampton Central station is about 18 minutes' walk, with direct trains to London Waterloo, and Southampton Airport Parkway is around 9 minutes by car.
