"The hotel itself is very underwhelming and completely unaccommodating.
Clean but bare bones. No AC. Few amenities. Very dated room. One electrical outlet and a simple tub bathroom. Wifi is not offered in rooms. Paper thin walls. Bed was quite worn and clearly in need of a refresh.
Nice view of the bay from a very small window.
The restaurant- our first night here they were out of almost every item we ordered. Drinks were very limited. Out of stout. No passionfruit for the martini they featured on their menu. No whisky as advertised for their old fashioned. No fish for one of the mains. We settled for fried Haddock and chips and the fry came burned. The next day we asked to order a starter of mussels to snack on and we were told it was not possible without a reservation (and they were completely booked).
Also worth a mention but no fault of the hotel- the main road to and from Portree from Uig was completely closed for construction after 7pm. We could not visit the town for evening pubs or dinner options. Again not the fault of the hotel but super inconvenient given the supply shortage at the hotel bar.
If the hotel was inexpensive, i'd be more forgiving but it was quite pricey for the inadequate value offered."
Wow sea-view! walks, cliffs, wildlife - spacious contemporary home
10/10 Excellent
"Truly a special location. The view was to die for and the location incredibly peaceful and quiet. Luisa and Chris took such care during our communications and put us at ease, making every step of the way smooth and comfortable. Checking in was a breeze and Ceol na Mara was a delight to stay at. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need (or would want!!) for a self-catering holiday. Normally I dread cooking at a holiday rental (the knives are dull or the pans are worn through) but everything at Ceol na Mara kitchen was new and something I would love to have in my own kitchen. After spending 4 days in Skye, I realized Ceol na Mara is in the most ideal location at the top of Trotternish peninsula—a short drive to Staffin for provisions, incredibly close to Rubha Hunish & the Quiraing, and situated in as close to isolation as you can get on Skye. At night we heard nothing except the waves.Do yourself a favor and book here for a truly relaxing and special holiday on Skye. "
"Very spacious and comfortable room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy parking and access to room. Bed was upstairs and living room and bathroom downstairs. We were very happy with our stay."
"Phenomenal stay at a breathtaking area in Scotland The Isle of Skye .The room was super clean and had everything one needed in a compact package .We stayed two nights just last week ! The breakfasts which were included were amazing and after having dinner there our first night ,having dinner there for the second night was a no brainer ! We had such kind and attentive service from Mina and Mahmoud . They were so naturally nice and hospitable it felt like we were at home ! The only knock at all was the bartender who worked on night of April 18th , he seemed disinterested just for a simple whisky pour, way different than the professional attentive almost loving care by Mina and Mahmoud . We were in Scotland for 17 days and he by far had the coldest inhospitable demeanor of any bartender THE ENTIRE TRIP ! For a jewel of a bar with beautiful lighting ,displays ,and seating it is even more surprising of how bad his demeanor was .Everything at Brackenhide was 5 star this male bartender who worked night of April 18th was a 1star because he didnt spill our drinks and muttered a thankyou!"
"This B&B was fantastic. The staff were all wonderful. The room and views were amazingly beautiful and charming. The entire place feels like a fairy tale."
