Serenity by the Sea

Lovely, spacious, well appointed home with stunning views of the Pacific and its coastline, with breathtaking sunsets. We’ve been coming to Sea Ranch for more than 25 years and this is one of the nicest homes we in which we have stayed.

Just what we imagined!

Great views and great property. Just steps from the coastal path, a beautiful beach and only 15 mins walk to the lodge. Will definitely return!

A few quirks but would stay here again

We spent a girls weekend at this property and overall had a really great time. We would come back for the view alone as we spent 90% of our time here on the deck. The check in process is cumbersome. We didn’t know till the day before we had to drive to the property management office to pick up a “welcome packet” which in reality was a parking pass you hang in your window. This seems like an unnecessary step for the renter to do. This “packet” could have easily been left at the property by the property manager when they come before we arrived to do things like turn on the hot tub. They also didn’t tell us we were able to check in early till 12pm, but we weren’t planning on leaving till 12 anyways because it’s a long drive. If we had known early we would have taken advantage of the extra time. But that’s minor. The property itself is nice, and very well stocked. My only complaint is the house definitely needs some updating. Paint is peeling, the flooring is missing around the second toilet, and there’s mold in random places (it’s right on the water so it’s constantly damp, so I’m sure mold is a constant issue). I also wish they would wash the windows that face the water before each stay. All of that being said, we had a great time. You absolutely cannot beat the view, and although the house needs some updating, it was comfortable and worked perfectly for our stay. We would stay here again!

Un acceptable amount of Mold and quality of property

I have stayed at VRBO’s multiple times and never have I experienced a property with mold or as run down as this property. This was one of the most expensive properties and VRBO should not have this as a recommended property. Also the owners should stop renting the property until they deal with the mold that was in multiple rooms. The BBQ was un functional as well. If it were not for the ocean front view this place would be considered a dump.

Beautiful location

This home is in a prime Sea Ranch location...right next to the bluff. Ocean sounds all day and night. The home itself is comfortable and adequate, although the decor is a bit tired. The main living area lighting isn't good enough for evening reading and required multiple individual lights be turned on, but in-bed reading was ok. There was a power outage and the provided lantern didn't work. Overall it's a solid B+.

Gorgeous property

Sit in your living room and hear the ocean, watch for whales. Kitchen well appointed. Perfect for a walk along the cliffs and close to Sea Ranch Lodge.

Bowsprit house

- [ ] Tv didn’t work someone had to come out to make work. - [ ] Floors where dirty Under the rugs ( Many Rugs!) they only cleaned around chairs n furniture but not under any of them. - [ ] Very old place!! - [ ] Not Covid cleaned - [ ] Hot tub works, beds clean sheets baths cleaned - [ ] Sponge disgusting had to buy a new one - [ ] Somebody came into the yard to water something n my mom could of tripped on it if I didn’t move it. It was not there when we first got there so this is an invasion of our privacy while renting the place. They should have told us they were coming here!! - [ ] They came over n took out the trash , which they should have told us they were coming over!! - [ ] Saw a mouse inside the house! Also. Ants. I hate ants The view was beautiful n Gourgous

Fabulous

You cannot get a better location than this place. Just heavenly. Walked a lot every day. This was a mellow-out trip and this house filled the bill to a tee. It's true as other reviewers have noted that the home needs some updating, but that didn't bother us at all. I gave management info on a couple of needed repairs, and they were very responsive in their response. Since we were on our way out, I can't judge how quickly the messages will be acted on. Sea Ranch is a mesmerizing experience. The walking trails are perfect with dramatic bluffs We stocked up in Gualala and didn't leave again until time to come home!.

Home at the bluff

Our stay at this perfectly located home at the bluff was great. Our family had a great time in Sea Ranch and enjoyed the view, cooking meals in the kitchen, and spending time in the hot tub. We would stay again!

Nice stay in Sea Ranch

The property has an amazing location and a good layout. The interior of the house could use some updating, but we had a lovely stay! The room configuration worked very well for our family and the front had a nice gated area.

Beautiful Sea Ranch Bluffside

Trying To Get Back To Normal

Trying to take a break from the rigidity of COVID-19 protocol, we planned a trip with some new scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay by the ocean. Location was spectacular. House was dated but comfortable. Several kitchen pieces needed to be cleaned but other than that, premises was clean and taken care of. We had a great time.

Great Location, But…

Pros: Outstanding location on the bluff, above Black Point Beach. The house’s deck faces the bluff northwest, so summertime sunsets are perfect, unobstructed, and 90 degrees to your deck chair on the deck. You literally don’t need to move. Very pet-friendly. The meadow between the deck and the bluff is about 50 yards; long enough to throw the ball out for your dog. It’s a 5-10 minute walk south to the Stairs leading to the beach. House is set back off the roadway, and private. Hot tub worked great and we used it nearly every day, for a 10 night stay. Kitchen is relatively well-outfitted. Internet was fast and reliable. Cons: House was…very dirty. Cobwebs and insect cocoons in the bathroom. Two used Kleenex on the floor under the bed in the master. Window exteriors had not been cleaned in weeks, and the terrific views were obscured by a thick film (already mentioned by other reviewers). My wife cleaned the window exteriors on day 1 and they lasted a full week. The window in the master has still not been repaired (Seal is broken; cloudy throughout; See similar reviews from years ago) and no amount of cleaning will turn it back into a window. The garage looks like you could totally park your cars in there, if it wasn’t full of construction materials, old appliances and junk, so it’s totally out of play. A side storage area is currently used as a dumping ground for a rusty BBQ. The working, advertised BBQ is in such a sad, rusty state the igniters won’t light it. Tried to light it with matches or a lighter, but there are none inside the house with the fireplace, so to use the BBQ, we had to buy a lighter in town, 10 miles north. The house is very dated and probably still has the same original 1976 bathroom floor in the master bath. This property has so much potential. It is in a fantastic location, but it is a shame it has been neglected and under-maintained for what appears to be a very long time. We’ve stayed at about 8 different vacation houses in Sea Ranch, from kooky-kitschy to clean and modern. All were great experiences. This house was frankly the worst maintained and just kooky-dirty, and not in a family cabin kind of way. Used Kleenex on the floor tends to be a deal breaker…

Problem with ants in the kitchen. Sliding door to patio very very hard to slide open. Checked in thur night but no one came to show how to operate the main tv till sat late morning..batteries were dead in tv controller discovered by maintenance man.

A most wonderful spot on Earth!

We all loved the views from the veranda and the living room! The kitchen was super well equipped. The early sixties decor added to the special flair. Thank you for making it possible for us to have a special celebration for our mom's 90th birthday 🙂We will definitely be back!

Great Home!!

The home was fully equipped with anything you need!! Cozy and solid WiFi connection... had to do a few zoom meetings and had no issues. Great views and the hiking path is right outside. Wonderful location and we would love to to come back on our next Sea Ranch adventure 💕✨

Great location, well appointed

We had a great long weekend here. The location is great. It is a short walk to the beach, and right on the long path that meanders through Sea Ranch. This cabin is well appointed, but not super high end. Everything worked, and it had everything we needed. I recommend.

Classic Sea Ranch - Rustic Sophistication With a Great View!

First the spectacular ocean view dazzles you so you don't notice anything else. Slowly the house reveals itself with sophisticated signed art pieces tucked around but in such an unpretentious casual way that you feel thoroughly at home with them. The rooms are bright and airy and the kitchen is very well-stocked with high quality batterie de cuisine. The hot tub is one of the most easy to operate ones we've ever seen and wonderful. Our family had a delightful stay and were sorry for it to end.
