SCITECH Discovery Centre Tours

Let your kids satisfy their natural curiosity and get in touch with science in Western Australia’s leading discovery center, Scitech. Children will love the entertaining and educational exhibits about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Scitech also features a planetarium and presents regular plays and puppet shows. Try some of the more than 100 hands-on exhibits in the modern complex, which has been welcoming families for over 25 years.

Check out the Up, Down and Around exhibit to discover the principles of motion and momentum. Send balls whizzing down stainless-steel tracks, around loops and all about the room on the Kinetic Contraption. It introduces kids to the concept of kinetic energy with levers, pulleys and plain old gravity.

See how electricity is made and teach the children how to stay safe around it in the Energy Zone. Wander over to Science Fiction, Science Future to learn about some of the amazing technology that could one day be part of our lives. You can play Mindball, build a cyborg and experience augmented reality.

Drop by the Think Tank to find out how medical researchers are hard at work discovering cures for deadly diseases. Move on to Sonic Science to experience life without sound and learn how to protect your hearing.

Visitors with younger kids should head to Discoverland, an area specially designed for children under 7 years old. They can dress up, watch fish in the aquarium or play with bubbles and mirrors.

Catch a show at the Science or Puppet theaters or be blown away by the scale and splendor of the solar system in Horizon, the in-house planetarium.

Browse the unusual souvenirs and gifts in the Discovery Shop, which is full of amazing, funny and educational items.

You’ll find Scitech in West Perth, about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from the city center. It’s easy to reach on foot, and by car and train. Scitech is open daily, except December 25 and 26. All shows and a session in the planetarium are included with your ticket.
