"Lovely spacious apartment with period features just a 10 minute walk along the beach to the pier. All bedrooms a really good size and lovely nautical themed touches throughout. Cool despite it being very hot when we stayed. Lovely little backyard to chill out in the evening with a glass of wine. Excellent communication throughout from host. Thoroughly recommended."

"We were looking for a place to cool off during the recent heatwave. This hotel actually had AC and a wonderful view. It was also very spacious and we slept very comfortably. We loved that it was quiet and that it was really easy to access the beach and restaurants. It was a lovely stay and I highly recommend it!"

A delightful cottage in the heart of the historic conservation area of Deal

"I have mixed ratings for Portobello Cottage. The online description, cleanliness, and communication with host would be 4-5 stars. However, this property just didn't work for our family of 4: mom, dad, and two teenage daughters, all over 5'10" tall. The 3rd floor bathroom was not able to be used. The handheld "shower" was too small/short for any of us. We all had to share the second floor shower which was pretty small (could barely raise arms to wash hair, and no space to change clothes). Everything about the accommodation was just too small for our family--even though the property was exactly as described. My head bumped the ceiling so many times! I chose the property--and paid more than I budgeted--because we wanted use of two separate showers. As it was, we barely had the comfort of just one shower. There is a washer/dryer all-in-one machine, but, as Americans, we were not prepared for loads to take 4 hours. (We couldn't dry clothes on a rack because it rained our entire stay.) This would be a lovely cottage for a smaller family or a couple. It just didn't work for us."

Cosy and quirky seaside cottage in the heart of Deal's conservation area

"The Cow and Cockle is quirky and bijou as stated. We stayed for a week and to be honest it was a bit too small for us having been used to a larger property hence the title of my review. The house is well equipped with everything that we expected and I enjoyed sitting in the courtyard garden except when the pub down the road had a karaoke evening! The location of this proprty is ideal for exploring all of the delights of Deal and handy for shopping. You are literally just round hte corner from the Saturday market and high st. The bed was comfy, great towels. We had a few issues with the fridge and then the electricity going off on the last morning, which were dealt with efficiently by Keepers Cottages. Be aware if you have mobility issues, then this place is not for you as the stairs are steep and narrow - this is pretty obvious from the description, but in case you misssed it."

"The room was beautiful, comfortable, and full of character. Dinner was outstanding, and breakfast the following morning was equally impressive, with great quality food and excellent service. What really made the stay special, however, was the staff. Every member of the team was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, making us feel valued throughout our visit. A charming hotel with fantastic food, beautiful accommodation, and exceptional hospitality. I wouldn't hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area."
