The Rose Cottage

Reset and relax at our natural jungle paradise. Taste and take in the beautiful tropical fruit landscape during the day and some of the clearest star gazing at night. The rose cottage named for its ever blooming roses, provides a beautiful quiet, cozy space to recharge. We offer permaculture farm tours and educational workshops per request. There are hidden ocean gems a bike ride away. We are set off of one of the most beautiful roads to drive down in Hawaii.

Drones are prohibited on our land and community. No video footage is allowed without explicit permission from hosts.
Guests are expected to remove their garbage and recycling from premises. Transfer stations for trash removal are open in every town in Hawaii.

Rustic ALL the way...beautiful JUNGLE atmosphere surrounded by abundant fruit trees of every possible description. Lovely outside shower with abundant HOT water...Two very comfortable & spacious king beds. A real plus was "Sofie" the guard-dog & "October" kitty. These two wonderful & well trained animals became my companions during my 2wk stay...Kelly & Jeremiah (my hosts) were also very accommodating & friendly & expecting a new baby boy in October...All around delightful experience & i would return in a heartbeat...from Jon Layer

Uniquely Amazing!

This place is the perfect experience for off grid forest relaxation. The hosts are amazing people. We loved the property and fell asleep peacefully to all the sounds of the forest. The plant diversity is wonderful, and the fruit was delicious! This was exactly what we were looking for!

Insect problems

Loved the location but between the roaches and spiders I was on edge my entire time there. Everything night I spent there I had to kill between 1-4 giant roaches that would fly around the room. 1 night I woke up to a giant spider hanging from a web above my head. The toilet is outdoors and there were multiple times I’d have to wipe ants off the toilet before using it. Lovely location but major pest problem and the cabins not very sealed off

Quiet and magical

There was so many great things to say, I’ll just touch on the highlights. 1. Secluded and quiet. The property is well off the beaten path. This allows for beautiful clear night skies and amazing sounds from birds and critters night and day. 2. Off grid and minimalist. This is certainly our style and the property didn’t disappoint. 3 Excellent communication and friendly hosts. Nothing to add here. It was a pleasure working with them. 4. Adorable cottage. The photos don’t do it justice. Rose cottage is cute and quaint. We would definitely recommend this stay. Thank you for a great experience

Owners were amazing and the property was old school hawaiian. The lush property and drive down papaya farms road was incredible! Couldnt have asked for better place to stay!

The Rose Cottage is wonderful!

They have created an amazing space. The location is secluded, far away from the noise of cities. It was by far the most relaxing vacation stay. The owners were friendly and respectful of our privacy. You cannot stay there without noticing the respect, understanding and kindness they have for the land and animals.

Fantastic place. One of the best sounding places I have ever slept.

Beautiful, off grid, comfortable cabin with beautiful rainforest surroundings and amazing night sounds. We loved everything about it and it was just what we wanted. Pahoa is a cool community . Why would anyone ever stay in a hotel when there are places like these?

Lovely cottage but not accessible

Staying on the papaya farm was a rustic refreshing change. Sleeping to the sounds of tree frogs and birds was lovely. Our hosts were great. The only issue we had was this property is listed as handicap accessible. I hope the host removes this before someone who is really handicapped rents it. There were rocky steep steps going into the cabin (the host gave us a sheet of plywood to lay down, but it was too steep for the wheelchair). There was also gravel going from the bedroom to the kitchen (wheelchair sank), as well as a couple steps. Luckily, I am able to get out of my chair and crawl, but many handicap people do not have that option.
