The owner Tomi is extremely attentive and will provide you with a multitude of services within and around the guest house. The traditional Japanese rooms are located on the second floor up a VERY STEEP set of stairs, keep that in mind for luggage and beverages. The onsen around the corner is super nice and you’re nearby to both JR station and local subways.
Tomi also cooks egg breakfast sandwiches daily 7-9 am, has tea, coffee, and cold water/electric kettle available anytime.

This is a beautiful property and a great spot for Arashiyama! Within walking distance to a lot of the main sights but still off the beaten track. Very cute and well designed. Most of the other guests were incredibly respectful and friendly, the host was phenomenal. Highly recommend KyoCafe down the road and the grilled meats/seafood stand past the bridge on the main tourist street (hard to miss but didn’t catch a name). Also, highly recommend an early start for the bamboo groves, parks and...

Piece Hostel Sanjo was a great place to stay. There was free access to wi-fi, free breakfast, clean facilities, and very helpful staff. It was in a good neighborhood, close to the markets, shopping, and subways. If you wanted to, you could walk a mile or two to get to the bigger and more well known part of the city. It was a great place to stay. I would totally come back again.

Great place for solo or couples, staff was helpful and even though I came early I was able to lock up my bags before my check in, bring cash for the added tax or just pay with card (extra fee). Rooms are pretty much sound proof, showers were open but private, room is straight to the point and there’s space under the bed for luggage, an open kitchen to heat up your convenience store finds. Around 20+ minutes walk to some nightlife and shopping! For me it was a bit hard to get a taxi but the city...

We stayed three night at this Hostel’s private room for two so happily that we have recommended all our friends to look nowhere but this place when they visit Kyoto. We will not repeat all the great comments made already by other reviewers. They are absolutely true. What we would like to point out is that the great, thoughtful design and the management of the hotel. You can have all the convenience and comfort with such a reasonable price. Especially if you book a private room for two. It is...

The hostel is in a quiet neighborhood, the atmosphere inside the hostel feels relaxing and is in good condition. What makes this hostel special is the host, he made the stay in this hostel an absolute pleasure! If I would return to Kyoto I would go out of my way to stay at this hostel again.

Owner was responsive even before we showed up. Told us how to get there. Very flexible with check-in time. Waited for us at the property. Check-in was easy and informal. The place was better than the internet pictures. It's basically a fully functional home. Two stories, 2 BR, 1.5 BA, open kitchen with living room. Next door to a family mart (currently renovating, but a 7/11 is 2 min away) 1 min walk to Nijojo-mae subway station. 2 min from a local shopping strip(3 brothers bakery opens...

Great place to stay on a budget, only comment is bring ear plugs because some people snoring can be made louder from the cylinder capsules. Otherwise everything was clean and comfortable, and right outside is a bunch of Korean food that will not disappoint.

This was the cutest hostel above a cafe/bar. Breakfast was delicious and we were close to walk to many of the sights and train stations. Would definitely stay here again.
