Relaxing and enjoyable stay

We had an enjoyable stay here. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The Bay of Islands is such a beautiful place. You need a car to stay here, because it is a 15 minute drive into the main township. I was a bit disappointed with the location because I expected it to be closer to the water than what it was, and what the photo suggested. This was minor though, because having a car obviousy made it easy to get to places.

Bay of Islands base

A rustic cabin style property with large rooms and good sized ensuite. Several rooms available. Easy to find and well located. On a busy road ( no road noise) leading to the car ferry but with car spaces available. Room opened onto small garden with seating giving views of the bay. Room well equipped and clean. Owners lived above the property and we could hear them moving about. Hosts were friendly and helpful about the area.

Friendly and everything needed

The staff was very friendly and welcomming. Everything needed was there and it was clean and tidy. However, my room was a bit dark as I had the bottom floor. You could also hear if someone was walking on the floor above.

Loved my stay at this small and very friendly motel. Room was extremely comfortable and well-supplied. A little kitchenette allowed me to do a bit of cooking. I was in Opua for Sailing Week and the motel was within easy walking distance of the marina, which has a general store where I got groceries. The motel is not on the water, but has a view of the ocean and a nice outside sitting area. Marnie and Rich were quick to offer help with whatever I needed, genuinely kind, gracious, and generous. Their son is a sweetie! They added so much to my stay in Opua, I felt so at home, would stay there again in a heartbeat.
