The property was just as presented. The kitchen is well equipped; the bathroom is clean and updated; beds are comfortable; the gas grill is nearly new; everything works. For working remotely, as we did, the fiber optic cable was fast and reliable throughout our stay.
The cottage is about a mile and a half off the main highway (#49), along a well maintained gravel road, with lots of spacing between rural neighbors. The only negative was the in-your-face political displays during election week...not just the preponderance of Trump signs and flags, but also confederate flags; state of Jefferson signs; postings warning “outsiders” that they are being watched; lots of long guns and side arms on belligerent display. On a walk with my dog, a neighbor about a mile distant from the cabin purposefully set his dog loose to tun us around and chuckled from his porch as we did so. No one explicitly threatened us, but—notwithstanding the isolation of the cabin—it is clear that the dispersed neighborhood does not welcome strangers.
