The hotel was very welcoming. They left a welcome note and a small gift upon arrival, which was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, spacious, and housekeeping is done daily. The hotel is not very close to the city center, but it’s only a 2-minute walk to the nearest metro station. I recommend asking the concierge for the shortcut to the metro, as Google Maps shows a 10-minute walk while the shortcut is much faster.

For breakfast , I have the following Suggestion : in case of having the small porcelain cups for marmalades and honey , other hotels in Europe use biscuit cups like the ones for ice creams. You can have big quantities and you don’t have to replace all the time the plate which in many cases it was empty. Other suggestion is about the air conditioning, it was too noisy in the room so I had it off . The smell in the hotel , I miss some nice smell not only in the reception area but also in the rooms. The fist perception of an arrival into the hotel is also the smell . Our room was ok I liked the bed but I don’t like the rooms to be so close to the elevators, too much noise.

Our stay at the voco Madrid Retiro (IHG) was overall very pleasant, with several strong positive aspects, but also a few weaknesses. The hotel was extremely clean, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We even received a room upgrade, which was a very nice surprise and greatly appreciated. The breakfast was also very good, offering a nice variety and good quality. However, there were some downsides. Unfortunately, there was a very unpleasant smell both in the lobby and in our room. The odor coming from the drain was especially strong and almost unbearable, and there was nothing we could do to resolve it during our stay. This significantly affected our comfort. Another negative point was the elevators — the waiting time was very long, and it often required a lot of patience to get one. Despite these issues, the cleanliness, friendly staff, and the upgrade were definite highlights of our stay.
