Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX

10/10 Excellent

"We wanted to be close to airport since I did not need a car this trip. The 24 hr (every 15 min)shuttle service was great. Took less than 10 minutes to get to and from as there was barely any traffic. The hotel doesn't have their own garage but has access to a garage that is laterally steps from front doors. 3.50 an hour or 24.00 all day( didnt state overnight price).1 really cool feature when entering garage was form of payment. You tap your credit card on screen to be let in. When you leave you tap card again and it will automatically charge you for time there. So you don't have to remember your paper card and go pay at machine. I know this because our son came to visit and pick us up. The room and bathroom was really clean and newer looking and although I could see the planes coming in and out I never heard them. The bedding was so soft and comphy. There's a coffee shop that makes great coffee downstairs and yummy pastries. We did have breakfast last day at restaurant but unfortunately was not the best. Buffet food was not warm so we ordered off the menu but that wasn't much better. Flavor ? Egh. Apart from that restaurant we definitely would stay again."

"The staff are uniformly helpful and friendly. Downside is that the rooms are totally basic. In room coffee was meager with cream and sugar. I had a 9th floor room with a balcony but the soundtrack from outside was the very unhappy and stressed howling and barking from the kennels and dog boarding close to the airport. It drowned out the planes and was very depressing."

"The staff and the hotel both need to be updated. Some employees were friendly while others appeared just plain annoyed at anwering questions. See front desk. The property is adjacent to the airport and other things, but you need to be able to drive or ride share to get to anything especially after 10pm. WARNING: If you are driving and plan to park the will charge you $70 a night. This isn't valet, it's you finding a parking spot in their basement. A ridiculous gouge. The breakfast is not even close to mediocre. Very few choices and because of the line to get an omelette it's not worth the wait so your left with what's available and it's not much. Finally, the eating area is dirty. If and when you find a place to eat the table will be unwashed. Frankly, they could do much better but they obviously do not care. They have a restaurant/small bar inside, but I didn't try it except to get a beer They only positive was the room. It was clean and roomy, but again, it's dated by any modern standard. Overall, the place is not worth it especially if you're parking there and don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a breakfast that's decent. I'll not be back because there are so many better options."

"Nice, clean room, and I'm a fan of the shower gels. Water pressure so-so but ok for a rain shower head. The gym was well equipped, I was impressed. And there's a nice JW steakhouse as well which I enjoyed, as the bar/regular dining area but I did not try that. My only complaint, and it's a big one, is that the shuttle was very infrequent. At the airport, I came out and just missed one. I saw two Hilton vans and two Sheraton vans in the time it took for the next Mariott van to arrive, and that van just bypassed my area completely. Fortunately a friendly driver for a parking lot van asked where I was going and dropped me off across the street. On the way to the airport the next morning, I was fortunate to be near the front of the line as there were 30 people and the van could only take so many. The driver was very friendly and helpful but the hotel gets bad marks for only having what seemed like one van in circulation."
