Absolutely great place. Was my best and favourite accommodation while staying all throughout Japan. The room was clean. The room also had a JBL Bluetooth speaker, which was really fun to use while getting ready for the day. The lounge was an amazing surprise, with plenty of snacks, desserts, and drinks (including beer). The breakfast was free for us and was really easy to accommodate my partner, who had a nut and peanut allergy. All the food in the lounge has labels indicating dietary constraints, making it very easy to pick and choose what to eat. Highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Kyoto.

Must stay hotel in Kyoto!

The General Kyoto Shijo is the best hotel! This is my second time staying there and it did not disappoint. It is very clean, the staff is friendly and it is close to Nishiki market and lots of other amazing sites in Kyoto.

Very nice hotel with spacious rooms and well designed bathrooms. Soothing colours and decor. I liked the location as it was a short walk from many points of interest and a subway stop but outside of the tourist zone.

The breakfast here is fantastic, healthy, and energizing - definitely worth including in your stay! The lounge also includes complimentary snacks and beverages during the day and evening, which was a nice touch. The room was clean and quiet, and very nice modern bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall this is a great boutique hotel in central Kyoto. In the lobby, a helpful book of recommended local restaurants was a great resource. Definitely eat at Kuon udon restaurant a few doors from the hotel - delicious and authentic experience!

Cute little hotel. Very clean. Nice bathrooms. I LOVED the fact that there was onsite coin laundry. They also had a nice afternoon lounge with some drinks and snacks. Breakfast selection was limited, but freshly prepared.

I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough, it was fantastic!! I stayed with my 2 teens (we know they can be ahem a challenge to delight) and they are raving too! Loads of space, huge well appointed room and bathroom, fabulous lounge which we took full advantage of. Really walkable, delightful staff and breakfast to die for. We will be back for sure!!
