Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main

Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main

8/10 Good
"The room was smaller than expected, even by Japan standards. That said, it had everything I needed, including a comfortable bed and effective air conditioning. Unfortunately, there were several dead gnats around the bathroom vents, which was unpleasant to see while showering. The room also had a noticeable odor that I couldn't quite identify. At first, I thought it might be cigarette smoke, although I understand the hotel offers non-smoking rooms. The main reason I chose this hotel was its convenient access to the Airport Limousine Bus service, and that convenience alone made the stay worthwhile. Being able to travel directly to the airport without having to haul around the extra suitcase I purchased during my trip was a huge benefit and made my departure much easier."

Hotel Metropolitan Edmont Tokyo

Hotel Metropolitan Edmont Tokyo

10/10 Excellent
"Stayed 3 nights at the hotel in a standard room. The room was small by western standards but was very well appointed and had everything a couple would need. We stored our large suitcases under the bed and it worked out well. There was a desk area and mini fridge as well as a variety of places to store other items. The room appears to have been recently redone and there is plenty of lighting. The bathroom was a good size with a tub and shower combo. The hotel is in a great spot, located on a quiet side street 1 block from a major street. There are 2 JR train stations located a 5-minute walk in either direction. There is also a Family mart directly across the street as well as a 7-11 one block away. The Imperial palace national gardens are about a 15-minute walk while Tokyo station is a 40-minute walk. Ikebukuro is 15 minutes by subway. The hotel is great if you want a budget friendly choice (but more upper-class experience) away from the tourist crowds but still have easy access to everything you want to see and do. There is a restaurant on the main floor as well as a well laid out laundry area/lounge complete with vending machines. It was cheap for a load of laundry and the machine locks with a code, and you can watch its progress on your in-room TV. The staff were great, facilities updated and overall, a great experience. We would highly recommend."

APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae Minami

APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae Minami

8/10 Good
"Excellent location, better than I expected. A few minutes walk from train and metro stations, markets, restaurants and bars. A big plus for skyliner service from Narita. Although situated on a busy street, inside hotel is very quiet, no disturbing noise. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Good sized and comfortable bed, adequate shower. Only minus was no drawers provision for clothes, only a few hangers. I would certainly recommend for a first time visit to Tokyo and would stay there again if competitively priced with other hotels in area."
