Ike Kinswa State Park

This hotel presents itself as a luxury destination, but my experience this past week was anything but luxurious. I do want to say that the manager on duty and the staff were polite and never rude. However, it felt like the property caters more to long-term residents than vacation guests. Instead of feeling like a relaxing getaway, it felt more like staying in a crowded apartment complex. One of the biggest issues was the cleanliness of our room. There was dog hair everywhere. My son is allergic to dog hair, so I called the front desk to request that the room be cleaned. I was initially told they could bring me a vacuum, but that housekeeping would not clean the room unless we had been staying for eight days. That response was very disappointing given the allergy concern. It took speaking with the manager before housekeeping came to clean the room. Even after the cleaning, there was still so much dog hair that I ended up washing all of our clothes again when we returned home. The washer and dryer on the property were also not functioning properly. Maintenance came, but there was a significant language barrier, making it difficult to explain the issue. We tried to tell him that the washer wasn't filling with water. He pointed at it and said, "Look, it works." After he adjusted something, only about two ounces of water came out, and he insisted it was fixed before leaving.

The trip was not worth the price. On the first night when I arrived late due to a delayed flight, we checked into our room. The staff was very nice, but we had a leak in the ceiling coming from our light. We went up to the front desk they offered to put us in another room that was upgraded, but it was one king bed and I was staying with a friend when I mentioned that we have booked a double bed. They said they could put us in a room, but it would be a downgrade. Since I paid money for the upgrade, my friend and I were forced to share a bed for a night. We then went up to the room and asked to switch the next day because it was uncomfortable, and then we were put in another room that was directly across from the loud ice machine and the Nespresso coffee machine didn’t work properly. For the amount paid, this was unacceptable.
