"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. "Hung up in unbelievable traffic in Santa Cruz, I was not able to check into the hotel until 7 AM the next day when they reopened. So I don't have the overnight experience one expects. That said, the room was very clean, the shower had good hot water, and I did get a morning nap on the bed. Fort7nately, it is off the road a bit. "We had an incredible 8-night stay here for our honeymoon, and it exceeded every expectation. My wife is pregnant, so we were looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway, and this was the perfect place to unwind. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. We were welcomed with a handwritten note signed by members of the staff and a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon. Halfway through our stay, they surprised us with a thoughtful baby gift, which was such a kind and meaningful touch that made us feel truly cared for. The atmosphere throughout the property was calm and relaxing, and the location was ideal with the beach just a short distance away. The beach shuttle was convenient and made getting back and forth effortless. Our room was exactly as picturedā€”beautiful, cozy, spotless, and very comfortable. Everything was well maintained, and we always looked forward to coming back after a day out. We also loved dining at Almar. Every meal was delicious, and the cocktails and mocktails were fantastic. Most of all, the staff made this stay unforgettable. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind, welcoming, and eager to make our experience special. We honestly have no complaints. This was the perfect honeymoon, and we would absolutely love to return in the future. Highly recommend!"
