fewo1846 - Nordwind - Stay in a historic windmill for up to 2 guests
Historic timber beams, Scandinavian design and a terrace overlooking the old millers’ houses: “Nordwind” is a distinctive holiday retreat for two. Set in the award-winning, listed St. Johannismühle windmill dating from 1808, the apartment offers a taste of Flensburg’s history in a peaceful yet central location, just a few minutes from the harbour and city centre.
The studio apartment covers approximately 40 m² and is situated on the ground floor of the historic Dutch-style windmill, which was extensively restored in 2025 with great attention to detail. Substantial timber beams and distinctive architecture give the apartment its character, complemented by high-quality furnishings, clean lines and a harmonious colour scheme. Underfloor heating and fast Wi-Fi provide modern comforts, including for longer stays.
The open-plan living, sleeping and dining area creates a welcoming setting for your break. A high-quality double bed promises restful nights. The modern kitchen comes well equipped with a ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker – perfect for preparing meals together. A special extra is the Quooker, which delivers boiling water straight from the tap for a cup of tea, French press coffee or a warming grog after a walk along the fjord.
The modern bathroom features a walk-in shower with level access. Bed linen, towels and an initial supply of essentials are ready for you on arrival.
Enjoy views of the historic millers’ houses from the sheltered terrace. Start your day with breakfast outdoors or unwind with a glass of wine after exploring the area. The garden area is also available for relaxed barbecue evenings.
Your holiday gets off to an easy start with a generously sized parking space right beside the accommodation. Bicycles and e-bikes can be stored securely in a dry, sheltered space.
The surrounding area makes “Nordwind” an ideal base for exploring. Shops, restaurants and cafés are close by. Flensburg’s old town, with its narrow streets and historic merchants’ courtyards, as well as the harbour, are within easy walking distance. Around the fjord, you will find beaches, coastal paths and varied cycling routes. Nearby Denmark is also perfect for a day trip.
Whether you are planning a relaxing weekend for two or a longer holiday between the city and the sea, “Nordwind” combines a stay steeped in history with the comforts of today.
