Eureka Springs is located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains in the northwest corner of Arkansas. The town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town was once nicknamed “America’s Medicine TeePee” and attracted thousands of visitors looking for a healing experience. Wellness retreats and day spas, such as the Historic Palace Hotel and Bath House, still abound today.
Mountains, rivers, gorges and Beaver Lake, a manmade dam, characterize the surrounding countryside. Take advantage of the outdoors with a water cruise aboard an old-fashioned river boat. Explore at your own pace and rent a canoe for the afternoon, or head underground with a tour at Onyx Cave, a cave system located about 10 miles (16 kilometers) outside town.
See exotic big cats at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Promised Land Zoo has a wide variety of unique species and is a scenic 20-minute drive from Eureka Springs.
Highways connect Eureka Springs with nearby cities. The nearest airport is Carroll County Airport in Berryville, Arkansas, 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Eureka Springs.
