"We are a married couple in our 60s, and have just spent a week here at the beginning of October. This is their low season, so the hotel was very quiet and peaceful, which suits us. We could not fault the facilities, the cleanliness of the room, etc. The hotel comprises of an open central restaurant and bar, surrounded by colourful, well maintained gardens and small bungalows in which are situated the guest rooms, which are air conditioned. The hotel is at one end of a large lagoon, surrounded by mangrove trees, so we did see the occasional monitor lizard, mongoose and frogs outside our room! The all inclusive buffets at breakfast, lunch and dinner offered a variety of Sri Lancan dishes, which are generally spicy, but there was always a western option too. There is a small private beach across the road from the hotel, but the swimming here is not recommended due to the strong waves. The pool in the hotel though is huge, with both shallow and deep areas, and the water is warm and fresh (not salty). The hotel is around 30 years old, and offers a kind of colonial vibe, so don't expect ultra modern, contemporary decor. The jewel in this hotel's crown though is the warmth and cheerfulness of the staff, from the grounds men, waiters and waitresses, pool and bar staff right up to the managers. They work so hard, but are always keen to help and have a chat. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so lovely (especially Sankika, who was always so happy to see us at mealtimes)."
