"My family really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well stocked with supplies. The large fenced in yard was awesome. We brought our small dog and she enjoyed running around the yard. The house was roomy for the eight of us!The short ferry boat ride to Jamestown and Williamsburg was great and the children enjoyed it.The host was quick to respond to any questions or requests.Overall, we enjoyed our stay here!"

"I enjoyed our stay very much. There was anything you needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. Its a comfortable place to stay. I love the yard. All the games and stuff we did not play but the stuff for them was there. The woods in the backyard were cool! And if ur going to Jamestown this is a great location to stay at! Literally 4 miles down the road is the ferry you take right over to it. If i return to the area ever, i would stay here again."

The plantation received its name because it was the location of Captain John Smith's "New Fort," built in 1609, located directly across the James River from the Jamestown colony. The fort was quickly abandoned due to dry rot and a rat infestation.[4] The same land was later given by Chief Powhatan to John Rolfe as a dowry for the hand of Pocahontas when Rolfe and Pocahontas married. Archaeological surveys of the property have revealed that a number of structures have existed on the property and the present, restored main house was built by Jacob Faulcon in 1751.[6]
