Incredible views

This place was great. Right off highway 1 and overlooking incredible stretch of pacific coastline. Sea otters in the surf. It is dated and the floor plan is very awkward but it was really clean and just communication was excellent. No cell service which was excellent for our teens. TVs do have every imaginable channel but we honestly spent most of our time exploring the area from the shops in Carmel to the views in Big Sur. This place is right in the middle. Highly recommend!!

Family Trip

Loved this property. The view was insane. We enjoyed watching whales from the back patio. Horse was clean, enough sleeping spaces and blankets for everyone. Plenty of towels. Anything not provided is accurately listed so you can be fully prepared. Location is perfect. Close enough to a store to pick up anything you need and far enough away to feel like you’re on an island. 10/10 recommend and hope to visit again. Property manager was fabulous and so helpful with anything needed.

Wanted to love it

We had high hopes for this property but ultimately the price point is not justified given the state of this property and furnishings. It was clean and the views were spectacular. Beyond that, we found the many doors either not in working order or very difficult to open. Main entrance goes to bedroom. No screens or air conditioning or heat (just space heaters), no fans, lots of light switches that did nothing, an old kitchen with worn out cooking equipment, old/stained carpeting, loose handles on kitchen cabinets and shower fixtures, fake flowers and odd mismatched furniture, patio was a mess - giant nail sticking out/hammered down with a little flag on it, construction netting everywhere, overgrown landscaping with no outdoor seating, I could keep going. 2 stars because the views were incredible - lots of whale sightings and sea otters playing below, pelicans, hummingbirds.

Stunning Views But Mice

The property was accurately described as dated but beautiful location. And stunning it was! We arrived and the home seemed well cleaned, plenty of linens, along with several nice touches. After stepping into the sunroom, we immediately wanted to rebook...until the next morning when we woke up to mouse droppings on kitchen counter. It can happen and we understand that but we had produce nibbled on, droppings on counter each morning, and a mouse in the oven. There was no cleaning supplies left either so we had to purchase lysol wipes, throw away food, and only eat out. It was not ideal, especially at the price per night. We shared photos with the host and were offered 125 refund for 4 night stay, which was pitiful and never refunded to us. If the mice are eradicated, this place is worth it. Otherwise beware.

Beautiful Views

As others have mentioned this property is all about the views & location. The views are amazing! The home is very spacious & well equipped. However it is in need of a remodel, which it sounds like will be done soon. There was orange netting around the grounds during our stay due to this upcoming project. The home is older & things are looking worn (broken & bent blinds, a loose faucet handle in the 2nd bedroom & odd shower head placement in master jacuzzi tub). The layout of the 2nd & 3rd bedrooms are also odd. The surrounding grounds were overgrown, but you can see that there were once trails going to a lower area with chairs. Both tubs could use hand rails as they were quite large & very slippery. We had some issues, but the host was easy to communicate with & responsive.

Incredible Views

The house is conveniently located between Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea. It was incredibly spacious and the views were amazing! Keep a lookout for otters down below. Like previous reviews expressed, it was very outdated. There was also too much chlorine in the hot tub to be user friendly.

Amazing views

The first thing when you walk in is how amazing the views are. Living/Kitchen space was super relaxing and gave room for everyone to spread out. We were there for an event and so did not spend tons of time at the house but for anyone looking for an easy weekend getaway between Big Sur and Carmel-on-the-Sea, would recommend this property.

Great location but older property

The location of the property was great - right on the ocean. The team was excellent and responsive, particularly Dominic. The house was clean and comfortable. However, the property sis old and dated. I see the Story Poles so hopefully they renovate it.

Disappointment

Although the views and location were amazing, the overall condition of the property was far below even average. Make shift extension cords, heaters, lighting, furnishings, landscaping, and kitchen, we’re closer to camping than what the description and photos depicted. Couldn’t recommend this property to anyone at any price. Total remodel is in order.

Opportunity!

Can’t beat the view, the hot tub or the location. I knew from the reviews that the house was dated however there were some basic things such as a huge missing bath tile (someone forgot to actually grout the tile) that really should be taken care of at this price point. Linens, etc. were great. There is no central heat so bring lots of warm clothes if there is no sun! Lots of space heaters which helped but house feels like an electricians worst nightmare so we were skeptical on having them on too long.

Location and Beauty: Highly Recommend.

First and foremost, the location and the amazing beauty are what stand out. I have already rebooked for 2023. Highly recommend. My husband and I used this place to meditate, rest, and write. The pro's: Great beds, plenty of space, hot tub, privacy, peacefulness, and location, location, location. The sunroom was my favorite spot for yoga and meditation. The Starlink wifi works well. You are very near the Garrapata State Park and Point Lobos State park. Great for walking and hiking. The Safeway is 10 miles up the road along with Carmel-By-The-Sea. Big Sur is only a 20-minute drive. The con's: The kitchen. It's not great, a little beat-up, but very usable. We cooked most evenings. It is fully stocked (there are leftover spices which was nice). The kitchen door needs replacement. The main entrance into the house is the 2nd bedroom, we found this rather odd. While technically, this is listed as three bedrooms, to get to the bathroom from the third bedroom, you must enter the 2nd bedroom. In the middle of the night, this would be kind of awkward. Not a problem with friends and family who are close. For me, this really functions as a two-bedroom or three-bedroom if you are okay with how the 2nd bathroom is accessed. The little quirks about the house make the house a little eclectic. So, if you are okay with the con's, you won't be disappointed. Just to re-emphasize, I have already rebooked for 2023 - for two different dates. Great value in terms of price. You can't beat the beauty and the location. I hope this helps you with your decision. Highly recommend.

10 Miles South of Carmel

The views from here are amazing and that's what you're paying for. House is located 10 miles south of Carmel on CA-1, so if you want to be in Carmel, this isn't for you. House has a lot of cool features, but is dated & needs a LOT of work. Hot tub doesn't work. Entry is into home is thru one of the bedrooms. Master bath doesn't have a shower door, curtain or anything to contain shower spray. This home is all about the spectacular view.

Spectacular Experience

The California coastline from Carmel to Big Sur is some of the most beautiful, spectacular coastal property in the world. This property is situated right above the water, right in the middle of that area. The views are breathtaking. The house is beautifully sited and has large windows in all the right places. We had a wonderful time over Memorial Day Weekend and look forward to returning. The amenities are not not all they could be, but the very responsive, professional property managers are working with the owner to address that, and the splendor of the setting put everything in perspective.

The photos don’t do this property the justice it deserves

We were absolutely blown away from the moment we drove up the driveway. The views were unbelievable and the photos online just don’t do this property the justice it deserves. Very spacious, quiet home for being so close to hwy 1. We are already talking about booking this property again for our next getaway. We were truly sad to leave.
