Experience one of the most exciting districts in Bremen, where fairgrounds delight families and world-class venues host year-round events in historic locations.

Fill your days with exploring and your evenings with entertainment in the welcoming Bremen neighborhood of Findorff. Located to the north of Bremen’s Old Town, Findorff is packed with attractions for visitors to the city, as well as numerous celebrated venues showcasing the best in the arts.

Leave Bremen’s train station (Hauptbahnhof) behind and head north to arrive in Findorff’s main events area, the Fairground Bremen. This space is transformed for major events throughout the year, such as the Osterwiese in April, when the grounds are filled with carousels, roller coasters and more.

Findorff is perhaps most famous for the Freimarkt, which is also held in the fairground. Come to the district in October for this fair with a history that stretches back to the 11th century and today lasts for 17 days of celebration. About 4 million guests attend the fair each year, enjoying rides, street food, firework ceremonies and a parade known as the Freimarktsumzug.

Two major arts venues sit on the edges of the fairground. The Kulturzentrum Schlachthof is a converted 19th-century slaughterhouse that houses gallery spaces, lecture halls and performance stages. Find out what’s on at ÖVB Arena, a 20th-century concert venue with a 14,500-person capacity and a busy schedule of international musicians and touring musicals.

Head away from the fairground to see what else Findorff has to offer. The Bremen Broadcasting Museum (Bremer Rundfunkmuseum) celebrates the history of radio and television through displays of vintage equipment. Discover the history of water treatment by visiting the huge machines on display in the Old Pumpworks (Altes Pumpwerk).

Relax after sightseeing in the vast State Park (Bürgerpark) that runs along the edge of the neighborhood. Join one of the winding trails that cross the 500-acre (200-hectare) park or rent a boat to drift along its waterways. Other activities include miniature golf, horseback riding and viewing the animal enclosures.

Findorff is easy to access. Board a train into Bremen’s center and find the district directly to the north of the main station. The neighborhood is an entertaining place to explore throughout the year, but come in October to experience the buzz of the Freimarkt celebrations.
