The Barn Studio designed by owner/builder in 2020 is located adjacent to the owner's residence in town Southwest Harbor. This property is off the street and surrounded by 5 acres of fields, trees, and views of Acadia's western mountains providing the perfect country escape feeling.
Completely furnished open concept living area (with full size sleep-sofa for maximum occupancy for 4) with full kitchen, 1-bedroom with queen bed with new foam mattress topper, 1-bath, cable and WIFI, heat pump, private outside area with seating for 4, barbeque grill, fire pit, and lobster cooker.
Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, marina, bus route, and minutes away from Acadia National Park, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating.
This property truly is the perfect escape.

Lovely little spot

This rental had everything we needed for a relaxing stay in SW Harbor. Our dog loved the open areas to roam and we enjoyed watching the wildlife in the morning as we drank our coffee.

A respite on the Quiet Side

If you enjoy Acadia but not all of the bustle, this is the perfect spot. It is ideally suited, being walking distance to the town of Southwest Harbor, and Island Explorer bus stop, and is a short drive to some of the best trailheads. The house is on a quiet side street, is super clean, and has a lovely yard. Great for birdwatching too!

Great stay!

Easy to find, wonderful space. Great access to Mount Desert Island. Inside was nice and clean, plenty of dishes to cook whatever you want. Daughter slept on the sofa bed and said it was great!

The space was clean, efficient and we enjoyed our stay. A 2nd mirror would be helpful for doing hair/makeup while the bathroom is in use.

Perfect place !

Sparkling clean and SO convenient to everything. We loved walking to town to shops and restaurants Studio had everything we needed. Quiet place on five acres where we wandered around. Host was so quick to respond to questions and went out of her way to accommodate us. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else!

Great week in Southwest Harbor

Beautiful property with a great location. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and bus. Dawn’s binder of information was very helpful. Our first stay in southwest Harbor but hopefully not our last. Nice to be on the quiet side!

A wonderful week at the Barn Studio. Tranquil walking paths on the beautiful grounds. The apartment is fully stocked and well appointed. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. A great location in our favorite town on MDI. We hope to return soon.

Adorable space

We loved having a clean relaxing space to come back to every night after a long day of hiking. We were also amazed at the noise control as we heard absolutely nothing from the upstairs apartment. The hosts were so kind and responsive. We would definitely stay again if we ever get the chance to return.

Second stay at this lovely apartment located within walking distance to restaurants and shops on Main St. Southwest Harbor. Also close to shuttle service to the park and Bar Harbor. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of outside space for our pup. Dawn and Wes are they if you need them but give you privacy too.

Beautiful studio

This was the perfect studio for me and my husband and our golden retriever, Lucy! It was beautiful and immaculate. Lucy especially enjoyed playing frisbee in the open field. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

Beautiful studio, excellent location

Dawn’s place was perfect for our family of 4 + our pup. Her studio is beautiful & cozy. The location was great- close to Acadia & a short drive to Bar Harbor. Dawn supplied everything you would need, which made packing lighter. The bedding & towels were so comfortable! Plus, she had lots of information available to help plan your days. The backyard fire pit was a nice plus & her property is beautiful. I would highly recommend & would definitely stay again!

Charming space to stay while exploring Acadia

Dawn is an excellent hostess and the studio apartment is lovely! The apartment is located in Southwest Harbor, and is within walking distance of the main street which has great shops and restaurants. This part of Mount Desert Island is less crowded and overwhelming, yet still conveniently close to all parts of Acadia national park. One of our favorite hikes during our visit, Acadia Mountain Trail, is less than 10 minutes from the apartment. The apartment was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. The grounds around the apartment are lovely too!

More than I'd hoped for

My husband, 1.5year old puppy & I spent a week at the studio. Loved it. Many extra touches. It was an easy walk to restaurants, sites, & stores. I loved all the information & suggestions from "the binder". It was a great resource guide & all the property information was easily accessible.

Great location

The Barn Studio was very neat and clean, and just the right size for the 2 of us. The location was quiet, and it was just a short walk to the downtown area with restaurants and shops. We had a great time on Mt. Desert Island and highly recommend Dawn's place.

Cozy and Pet-Friendly Getaway in Southwest Harbor

Our stay at The Barn Studio was exactly as described—clean, well-maintained, and easy to check into. It’s a great option if you're looking for a quieter alternative to Bar Harbor. The space is very dog-friendly, and there was plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors after a day exploring Acadia National Park. We highly recommend dining at Harbor Table—the food was delicious and atmosphere was excellent!

Beautiful, private, dog-friendly space!

If you’re looking for a pet-friendly stay near Acadia National Park, look no further! We enjoyed being away from the bustle of Bar Harbor with room for our fur baby to be outside while relaxing after sunset. We found the adorably decorated apartment clean and comfortable. Laundromat, restaurants, and grocery stores all nearby. Wonderful!

Just do it

We loved staying here and will definitely do so again the next time we are on MDI. The studio apartment was bright, cheery, and very clean. The queen bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the shower was great. For those with dogs, this is the place to stay. Just open the door and let your dog out for walks the lengthy mowed paths. Just do it.
