Cape Cottage | Stay Waiheke

Summary:
Cape Cottage in Oneroa village is beautifully presented and well equipped for a relaxing family holiday by the sea.

The Space:
Set just above Oneroa Beach, Cape Cottage is bright, open, and made for easy island living. The home has been beautifully updated while keeping its classic Waiheke character — timber floors, whitewashed walls, and wide windows that bring in the light and sea air.

The open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area forms the heart of the home, with a gas fireplace for cooler nights and plenty of space to gather and unwind. Glass doors open out to generous decks and a garden, perfect for morning coffee or relaxed evening meals outdoors.

There’s room for everyone here, with three bedrooms and a mezzanine that adds extra sleeping space. The main bedroom has a king bed, the second a queen, and the third two singles. The mezzanine level, accessed by a ladder, holds a double bed — a fun hideaway for older kids or an extra couple.

Two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and thoughtful details throughout make Cape Cottage feel like home from the moment you arrive.

It’s a peaceful, welcoming base where days move easily — swim at the beach, wander into the village, or light the fire and settle in for a quiet evening together.

Bed & Bath Configuration:

Bedroom 1 – King bed

Bedroom 2 – Queen bed

Bedroom 3 – Two single beds

Mezzanine – Double bed (accessed by ladder)

The open plan kitchen, living and dining areas are light and bright and open the house to spacious decks with outdoor seating, BBQ and cottage garden.

Bed Configuration: Bedroom 1 - king bed, Bedroom 2 - queen bed, Bedroom 3 - two singles plus a mezzanine level with a double bed. Please note the mezzanine is accessed by a ladder.

Please note: Cape Cottage can accommodate 8 guests with a maximum of 6 adults. Minimum stays - 7 nights between mid December and mid January, 3 nights rest of January and all holiday weekends, 2 nights other times.

Guest Access:
Cape Cottage is in a great location to explore Waiheke Islands know vineyards and restaurants including Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Te Motu, Goldie Vineyard, and Miro/Casita Miro,as well as the iconic Saturday farmers market, Countdown supermarket, Waiheke's new EcoZip line and other lovely local cafes.

The Neighborhood:
Within minutes of leaving the front door, you can wander down to Oneroa Beach, coffee in hand, sand underfoot, and the day already feeling slower. The village is just around the corner, filled with small boutiques, galleries, and some of the island’s best spots for breakfast or lunch.

Start your morning at Wai Kitchen for good coffee and sea views, or try Fenice, a relaxed Italian-inspired café that carries on through to dinner. For something casual, Double Shot Joe is a local go-to for takeaway flat whites before a swim.

When it’s time for a long lunch, Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards are only a few minutes’ drive away, offering fine wine, incredible food, and views that spill into the gulf. Back in the village, you’ll find island staples like Solar Eatery and Aperitivo for cocktails and shared plates as the sun goes down.

The area around Cape Cottage feels welcoming and easy, close to everything yet calm enough that you’ll still hear birds in the morning and the sound of the sea at night.

Getting around from Cape Cottage is simple and relaxed. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is only about a five-minute drive, making arrival and departure easy. From there, you can catch the local bus straight into Oneroa Village, with a stop just a short walk from the house.

Once you’re settled in, you’ll find that much of what you need is close by. Oneroa Beach and the cafés and restaurants of the village are within walking distance, so you can leave the car behind for most of your stay. If you’d like to explore further, the island’s main bus routes (50A and 50B) run regularly to beaches, vineyards, and the Ostend Market on Belgium Street, open Saturdays from 8 am – 1 pm.

Taxis and e-bikes are easy to arrange, and there’s off-street parking at the property if you’re bringing a car. Waiheke’s roads are scenic and straightforward, expect sea views, winding lanes, and a pace that suits the island.
