This place was absolutely wonderful! My first time experiencing an onsen and it was amazing. The shuttle pick up and drop off from the train station was great. The welcoming staff at check in/check out. The room I selected was AMAZING!! So serene and quiet. I got the private bath with my room, and boy was it relaxing. We absolutely loved the private onsen in our room. Staff was very helpful in ordering a cab to the train station. I would skip the full board dinners in favor of supporting the local businesses!

Top Notch facility. Excellent buffet, in which they came up with innovated ways and controls due to the COVID situation. Staff eager to help with anything. Location was nice as it was right on the river. Plan to go back during the Spring or early summer as scenery is spectacular.

Open air bath area has nice views and is secluded. View from the room is therapeutic, overlooking nature. Very clean!

Really enjoyed this Ryokan traditional inn with the nature and the convenience of a top class Japanese inn which offers lots of relaxation and discovery. Many hot baths and excellent Japanese food. Our stay was really very agreeable. We will come back from Tokyo.

At check-in we received tickets for the Dragonola. A big hotel with many dining options. Shuttle from/to Echigo-Yuzawa Station—must have reservations.

Easy walking distance to the ski hill. Breakfast was good. The room was clean and staff were nice.

Exceptional Hospitality What a wonderful little gem! Pension Arma is a small, charming place where the exceptional service truly makes you feel welcome and cared for. The hospitality was outstanding from beginning to end. Both dinner and breakfast were simple, homemade-style meals, but absolutely delicious and prepared with care. Sometimes it’s the simplest food that leaves the best impression. We stayed in a basic room, which was small, but perfectly adequate for a good night’s sleep....

Checkout staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The onsen was welcoming for foreigners and we were informed tattoos were okay too, which was an unexpected surprise. Amenities (including robe for the onsen) were provided and there were vending machines easily accessible as well. Short walk to Yuzawa Station so it was very convenient. Compared to other properties in the area, it was nice to stay in a hotel with a private bathroom for only a slight price increase from hostel-style accommodations....
