I could tell you about the great bedroom with very spacious bathroom with great towels. Both spotless.
I could tell you about their excellent dinner menu & equally excellent breakfast.
Instead I'll tell you about the staff. Every one of them from check-in to restaurant staff were friendly, knowledgeable & professional.

「We had the most wonderful stay at Blackwell House in Scarva! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome — nothing was too much trouble. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, full of charm and character, with every little detail thought of to make guests feel at home. The food was incredible (and plentiful!) and the rooms were spotless, cosy, and luxurious all at once.
It’s one of those rare places where you can truly switch off and relax, and yet still feel utterly spoiled....
「We had a wedding in Newcastle and decided to stay in the Avoca that night. I rang in advance to see if we could perhaps get an early check in to suit the early wedding and this was accommodated no problem. The hotel itself lovely and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was beautiful also. If we’re back that way again we’ll definitely stay again.」

I slept soundly in a large comfortable bed and in the morning they served me a choice of a big vegetarian or meat-lover’s breakfast.

「Minnies cottage is in the middle of very beautiful farmland, it's close to Killeavy Castle, walking distance to a nice little pub called Johnny Murphy's and a small grocery store. The hosts and the property is warm and inviting. There were 4 of us and there was lots of room, 3 couches. The owners take pride in their property, it's very well built, beautiful and clean. Highly recommend this property if you just want a couple of days in the country or are attending a wedding at the castle.」
