Southeast Austin Ski Vacations

Room was nice but ligting throughout was dark. Restaurant was limited in selections and had to send my pesto back. The bucatini was not fresh and drenched in sauce. The staff was kind. Breakfast service had the server's kids at a table by themselves while she worked. Noticeable due to the low customer count and the child clanking dishes and silverware from neighboring tables. Probably still out on Christmas break. Location was not ideal for us but not the property's fault. I would have preferred someplace with walkable venues.

Design, ambience, and downtown location

This was not our first visit to this hotel. It is good for a 1 or 2 night stay, but not for the 5 nights we stayed. The rooms are generally smaller and not well it. Moreover, there is little room to store clothes for a longer stay. Finally, one area of the hotel was dark (there are outdoor, entry units) and we had to fight the dark areas and very dark steps required to get to our room. We complained 3 consecutive days but all were were told is it is a “programming issue” that is being worked on.

Room and property was clean as usual, we have stayed here 4 times. Expedia folks don’t count on room upgrade. I know this is a nice perk, but I know at checkout none are available even though you can see the rooms available in the web. We got the tickets for the free drinks although we couldn’t use as the bar closed early with no prior notice or signage posted. We received the probation a few days early, but with not enough time to book another place. The location is great for shows at the Moody Center.

We love Hotel Van Zandt! We do think the valet fee is ridiculous though. And we wish they had a hot tub. But overall a wonderful hotel for adults in Austin.

We had a great experience here. The Fairmont Gold experience was really nice. The staff throughout was friendly and helpful, with lots of recommendations for dining locations. The room was clean and spacious.

Perfect for my family. Roomy beds and big room lots of space!
