Excellent hotel, excellent staff.

Lovely hotel. Great food, lovely rooms with view of the Danube. Lovely spa. Friendly staff. A fair way from central Budapest but metro really easy and Uber very cheap to thermal spas or the centre

So I booked the Anantara hotel as it is described as a luxury hotel and for the New York Cafe. The New York Cafe really is beautiful. I booked with the hotel to have a luxury experience and to make the most of the New York cafe without having to wait to get in. I must say I am very disappointed with this hotel. I booked two rooms for a night, the first room the door to the fridge was broken, not allowing me to use the fridge. The 2nd room has NO fridge!! I visited on 28th - 29th June when Budapest was at 39 degrees with an intense heatwave. So we were not able to keep our waters cold. I made staff aware of this and nothing was done. I also was sat in the lobby and decided I wanted to go to the cafe for an ice cream before a reservation for something out of the hotel. I walked up to the staff inside the cafe (the side only for guests) and asked if we were able to take the empty table to sit down and have a drink and a snack. I was told it wouldn't be a problem but I needed to speak with the reservation team first. So I went to ask the reservation team. They then stated they needed to wait as the supervisors were all in a meeting.. Which was confusing. Why did I need to wait for them to finish their meeting? But I sat and waited... I waited for a table at the new york cafe as a paying guest at the hotel.. I then chased the staff again after 10 minutes and I was told to wait again. After another 10 minutes I left as I was fed up of waiting. Poor service, I wouldn't recommend.

Wonderful hotel in a fantastic location! We stayed here end of June during heatwave weather and the rooftop pool was a lifesaver! All the staff are so friendly and nothing is a bother to them. Personally we thought the breakfast average with a small selection but we always found something to eat. Rooms were cleaned to a very high standard and equipped with essentials (however no conditioner for hair in the shower). We would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking to do a city break in Budapest!
