Clean and spacious Room

Check-in experience was unprofessional and didn’t include any basic guidance (review of amenities, check-out time, etc.) let alone the amenity credit I was supposed to receive. The first room I was given had a broken AC. I called multiple times to get it fixed but ultimately had to go downstairs and demand being reassigned to a room with a functioning AC. The second room we were assigned had a functioning AC, but the temperature never made it to what it was assigned. The lighting panel in the room also didn’t function, but the lights would work if you turned on individually. Not sure why it’s there if it doesn’t work. The hotel is otherwise conveniently located, historic, and the amenities are newly remodeled. I’ve stayed at DC hotels with much better service and responsiveness. If you decide to stay, consider doing so in a cooler month given the AC issues.

All front desk staff were great, Constance was the one I saw most, but what an awesome hospitality team you have here. I was very impressed and felt very cared for. Thank you from my heart

Room had blood on pillow case, the beds were adjustable head, in concept very nice but was incredibly loud during operation. Walls were thin and able to hear others adjusting their beds during middle of night. Also was able to hear everything outside

Over-all the feel was of a well-maintained small hotel, decorated in good taste. Breakfast was above average ; staff friendly and helpful. Hotel was close to the mall and many small restaurants within walking distance.

This hotel was one of my favorites when it was still the mandarin oriental. It just doesn’t have that same class and grace anymore. The staff are not well trained and everything takes an excessively long time. The food in the lounge was terrible. The cocktails were the same as a pub and lacked craft. Turn down service was completely skipped for me, so I had to call to get additional water and coffee pods. The tv’s do not have chromecast or app capabilities, leaving you with basic cable options. This hotel felt more like a 3/4 star rather than a 5 star. Not a horrible stay, but there are certainly much better options.

Everything about the Swanendele Inn was exceptional: the location, the accommodations, the facilities, the decor, the hosts, and, not least, the breakfast. In fact, you could spend several days just exploring the remarkable antiques and artifacts around the place. However, what made the strongest impression was the fiery glow of dawn though the pine trees outside our balcony every morning in the Margeret Brent suite. Rhododaktylos, "The rosy-fingered dawn": I never understood the true meaning of that phrase until I saw that.
