Borneo Beach Vacations

The check-in and check-out process was very easy and fast without a deposit. The FO gave me a room with a nice view, the sea and the pool. The room was clean, the AC was cold, the shower was very strong. but now they don't provide bar soap, shower cap, toothbrush in the bathroom but when you check in, they will ask for this and if you need it, they will give it to you. everything is ok, only the security in front of the lobby door must be alert if guests bring a lot of luggage. There is no need to ask whether they need help carrying the suitcase or not. I think it's better to just help directly without having to ask. Novotel Balikpapan, January 5, 2026

Great stay for a few nights. The property and the rooms are a bit old looking but overall nice enough for what we needed. We had to ask several times for hand soap because there wasn't any in our room, but they got us some eventually. The hotel breakfast is amazing, so many options for a buffet. I was really impressed. The restaurant was very good too.

For the rate that this hotel charge (walk in rate was RM800) the hotel could do better in the following areas: 1. Wifi connection kept cutting off 2. Limited TV channel options. Poor TV resolution 3. Algae in the perimeter drain of the lap pool 4. Leaking plumbing fixtures in bathtub and at the valve to the toilet 5. Not up to 5 star hotel cleanliness 6. Air conditioner was out at their Strikers Bowl but luckily the first game (the only game we played was complimentary). Had to switch to different lanes several times because of malfunctions. Pros: 1. Staff was excellent and courteous 2. Breakfast options were excellent 3. Experience at Mandara Spa was excellent

Great resort with huge rooms, variety of activities and great services

Stayed at the Nexus for 2 weeks. Room had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Amazing view from our balcony, overlooking a glorious beach. Didnt use the golf course but it looked well maintained and set out. Used alot of the amenities without issue. Staff are so polite and very attentive. Would have liked more dining choice, although there is building work happening which may solve this. 35 munutes ftom city so. although you are in a secluded area, its easy enough to use shuttle/taxi and experience everything on offer there. Would definately visit again.

The hotel is old and requires an upgrade. I stayed at the beach front villa, it has a nice view though.
