Room was nice and great for a short stay.

Unfortunately me and my husband wished we had stayed at a different hotel. We checked in and were given a ground floor room next to the road. There was a half finished beer and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. This was quickly rectified by the member of staff however we were given a room again a few doors down next to a busy road. The room often didn’t lock when we first tried to close it. We were a little anxious leaving the room because of this. We had cleaning on the 2nd day and I am pretty sure the cleaner just remade our bed and took our bins away. We didn’t get clean glasses which had been used. The door also to the corridor with ground floor rooms 401-406 did not lock properly which made us more apprehensive about leaving the room as it was easy access to people staying.

We had a very good stay at Scandic Helsfyr Hotel. The beds were large and extremely comfortable with great pillows and a cosy duvet. The staff kindly upgraded our room and left fruit, biscuits and cake after we mentioned it was our birthday, which was a lovely touch. The room was spacious and modern with floor to ceiling windows, one that opened for fresh air, nice artwork, soft lighting, a seating area, a large TV, safe, iron and mini fridge. Heating worked very well and the bathroom had underfloor heating. Bathroom amenities included shower gel, shampoo and a hairdryer. The hotel offers paid parking, a good restaurant serving a buffet breakfast and dinner, a bar, a small shop, luggage storage, communal areas and a small gym. Breakfast was reasonably priced at around £12. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location is convenient with easy access to buses and the tube into Oslo city centre, and it is next to a football stadium. Overall the hotel offers very good value and we would stay again. For the negatives the bathroom felt outdated and looked dirty in some areas. The shower was small with very poor water pressure. The mini fridge was too small to store much. The TV had limited channels and Netflix and screen mirroring did not work. The corridors were dated, one lift was out of order and there is not much in the immediate area. There was also no proper wardrobe, only small hanging rails.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful spot near the ski jump. It's a little out of the city centre, but that's part of the appeal. You also get an amazing view of the city from the hotel, which is spectacular.

Har some initial issues since our 3 person room was only prepared for 2, but the staff fixed it right away. Overall very happy.

Outstanding hotel. The dinning options were excellent for someone who eats gluten free.

The towels we got were dirty and stained. We could not use them. We took pictures and went to the reception to get new towels. The gentleman refused to give us towels as he wanted proof that the towels were not cleaned by their cleaning contractors. This shocked me. I gave them the original towels and finally got fresh towels.

Honestly couldn’t ask much more from a hostel! Clean, quiet, safe rooms and a lovely social space with kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly stay in Oslo! :)

Pros: Great location and low price Cons: No staff onsite and email request was not answered, single room is tiny, as everything is automated via your phone you need to rely on your phone for check in as well as daily entry. Decent hotel but would likely stay somewhere with better customer service next time.
