Hawaii Island Kid friendly Vacations

The hotel was under active renovation. It would have been ok but the smell of the paint was so strong it was nauseating. Wait till the renovation is done- should be good then.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. The breakfast buffet was amazing, the staff were super helpful without exception. The beach was awesome. This is a 5 star destination!

Stayed here in June and it was amazing. The staff were so nice and personable! Not too bougie at all. The amenities were amazing and I’m certain we didn’t take full advantage of them all. We’ll definitely be back.

The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling.

We checked in around 11 PM. The security guard handed us our check-in keys. The property is not at all well kept when we opened the bathroom sink. The water never went in and looked like somebody’s throw up came up. There was dust everywhere the room felt very dirty. The carpet was filthy. The room really needs to be upgraded and cleaned.

We rented a unit on the second floor of building E. It had a large, well-furnished balcony with a fabulous view of the sunset each evening. The location was great and included a designated covered parking space. Access to the exclusive Mauna Lani Beach Club was a huge perk. The shops at Mauna Lani were a 2-min drive away and there was a shop in that location to rent snorkel gear. This area of the island was perfect for a relaxing stay for our family of four. The washer and dryer in the unit were very helpful and the option to cook and eat in the unit was also a huge bonus.

Our stay was fantastic. We didn’t spend much time wandering the property as there is so much to do on the island, but we appreciated the spacious 2 bed/2 bath suite, laundry, kitchen, and living room. We ran into Costco to get breakfast food and had everything we needed to make a delicious breakfast and eat it out on the large patio. Parking was convenient. Area was so quiet, we slept really well. I’d say the only bummer was the sell job to go hear about the timeshare. Just a little pushy when we got our arm bands, but we politely declined and got past that.
