A hidden gem tucked away in an unexpected corner of South Melbourne. From the moment you enter the lobby, you’re transported into an elegant, thoughtfully designed retreat from the bustle of the city. Our room was spacious and beautifully considered, with luxurious amenities that made the stay feel special. We particularly looked forward to the pool, sauna and steam room, but sadly these spaces didn’t reflect the care evident elsewhere. The sauna floor was covered in hair, the steam room had an unpleasant smell, and no towels were available, despite it being Saturday. Breakfast was equally mixed. The café is charming and full of character, yet the service felt oddly flat, almost hollow. Despite ample staff, communication was disjointed. The mechanics of service were there, but not the warmth, attentiveness or ease one expects at this calibre. We were initially told only one breakfast was included in our booking. This proved incorrect, but took 20 minutes to resolve, with little grace or effort to put us at ease. Despite these shortcomings, we genuinely enjoyed our stay. Hannah Street Hotel is beautifully conceived, with an intimacy and sense of place that set it apart. What it lacks is the human warmth to match: a genuine welcome, instinctive attentiveness and that quiet generosity of spirit that makes guests feel truly cared for. The interiors promise something exceptional; I hope, in time, the hospitality will fulfil that promise.

We booked specific room with the bath (one bedroom) so that we can bath our 5 months old, however the status of the bath was unusable as there were soap scrum all over the bath present. I have let the house keeping know and asked to change room, but was not able to fulfil our request as the hotel was full. We were then offered full clean of the bath and house keeping the next day. Also the room was very dusty and dust present in pretty much every skirting board in the room. later found a bottle full of cigarette butts in the veranda. (also offered $50 refund but never received the funds)

Fantastic location, and it really is a great hotel to stay in. The room was clean and comfortable with good restaurant options and hotel staff were very accommodating. The only issue I had was in respect of the bathroom, with the shower drain possibly being blocked and there was no proper shower door which meant water went all over the floor.

Really nice staff, lovely location, clean, quiet and comfortable room and excellent value for money breakfast. I’ll be back!

Lifestyle is a great place to stay with excellent amenities including a laundry room, pool, dishwasher, parking and access to public transit. I would definitely stay here again. That being said, while they communicated great with me via Whatsapp, I had a pretty bad check-in experience. They gave perfect directions and we followed them to the letter. However when we got to the parking garage our key would not work and we were trapped outside. We thought we did something wrong and tailgated another car in. Then none of the doors in the garage would let us out. We had no cell service in the garage. We had to hike out and find a way out. Eventually we got a hold of someone and it turned out they gave us the wrong key. While they apologized and gave us a free bottle of wine it was pretty bad to be put in this situation in a foreign country when we followed the instructions and were already tired and exhausted.
