I was nervous about visiting a new place, but the staff’s excellent service made me feel at ease and allowed me to enjoy my stay with peace of mind. The room was very stylish, clean, and comfortable, and the view was spectacular. I had to check out around 4:30 a.m. on my last day, but this was the kind of hotel that made me wish I could stay longer.

For many Japanese travelers living on an island nation, visiting a foreign country can naturally bring some anxiety—whether to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter or choose a hotel north of the airport. Those who are already experienced travelers may skip this part. Overall, you can feel quite safe here because the hotel is separated from the Gaslamp Quarter by the railroad tracks. While you may smell marijuana everywhere when walking around the downtown area, there is no trace of it around the seaside hotels. There are also several security guards near the front desk who look tough enough to handle any situation, which gives an additional sense of security. This is one of those moments when you really feel the strength of a global hotel chain. As for the room, although some reviews mention negative points, I found no issues with cleanliness. The only minor problem was that one of the glasses was a bit dirty. The towels and sheets were clean. However, do not expect the style of “Japanese hospitality” you might find at a resort in Japan. There are no amenities like razors, pajamas, or complimentary bottled water. It may feel strange to Japanese guests that despite offering large quantities of food and producing a lot of waste, the hotel still emphasizes SDGs—capitalism at its finest. There were clearly too few front desk staff members at check-in, and a long line had formed. Check-out, on the other hand, went smoothly. Breakfast offers a very American-style meal.
