"Everywhere clean, except the bathroom plughole could do with a good scrub, same problem as with our last stay but different room! I notice for our one night stay there was only one handtowel on this occasion - perhaps cutting back on washing, which is an ecological positive! Equally there was no hairdryer so this could be an economical diwn turn ..... or perhaps someone had just nicked it! Anyhow, a decent hotel, great location for us and wonderful staff."

"Room was clean and had everything we needed, with the nice addition of some balloons and a birthday message on our return after a day out for our daughter, having told them why we were there on arrival. Staff really helpful throughout. Last minute decision to eat in the bar area (restaurant fully booked) provided us with nice meals, which was against some of the reviews we had read, so I am assuming improvements have been made. Drink choices were good. Breakfast was also good. My wife assured me the full English was tasty, the alternatives I could have were all very nice. Quick use of the pool on our second day before breakfast. It was popular, but everything was clean. Didn’t get chance to use jacuzzi or steam and sauna unfortunately. Only gripe was people smoking directly outside/slightly in, the entrance lobby, but that is just how some people are. I guess even if they were asked to step 3metres to the side they wouldn’t. But one for the reception staff to at least try? "

"Unwelcoming entrance, none engaging front desk staff, tiered decor.... Disappointed. "

"The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed linen in particular was immaculate Tea, instant coffee and UHT milk were provided. The staff were courteous and very helpful."

"Very clean, modern and comfortable bed. Great to have restaurant on site. Easy parking. Friendly reception. It’s a little out of centre city Barnsley, so you’d need a car, but as we had one this wasn’t an isse"

"Bathroom was clean, though pillows had make-up stains on and the heating was only turned on when we arrive so took a while to warm up. Staff friendly when we arrived. it is above a pretty noisy pub with inside steps from the pub or a fire escape style staircase from outside. Could hear a couple having an arguemnt on the street below as well. All in all, convenient if needing to be in area but not one if you need somewhere a bit more accessible or quiet."
