World of Beatrix Potter Tours

World of Beatrix Potter featuring interior views
Bring your childhood dreams to life at the complex devoted to the children’s books and other works at this local wonderland.

The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction is an enchanting lakeside museum with interactive activities for kids. Exhibits tell the story of this 19th-century children’s author whose stories of talking animals are engrained in the minds of kids and adults. Peruse the large models of the writer’s creations decorating the corners of the rooms.

Watch a film about the life of Beatrix Potter, who wrote the famous children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Learn how she grew up spending many summers in the Lake District region, studying the vegetation and drawing inspiration from the wildlife.

Watch 3-D scenes from the stories to meet Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mr. Tod and the pigs. Wander through the Peter Rabbit Garden to see more scenes from the tales, including the moment when Peter got stuck in a net. Visit Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle’s Kitchen to see how she is getting along with Squirrel Nutkin and Mrs. Tittlemouse.

Among the most impressive parts of the site is the Virtual Walk. Take a digital journey through the Cumbrian countryside that served as the inspiration for Beatrix Potter. Listen to the narration explaining the context behind each part of the Lake District and its connection with the writer.

Dine in the Beatrix Potter Tea Room for pastries, soup, tea and other items. Get the Peter Rabbit Picnic Basket with snacks, sandwiches and a drink for the kids. Search for baby gifts and other gems for children in the Beatrix Potter Attraction Shop.

The attraction is open between morning and late afternoon daily. It closes for a few weeks annually in January. There is an admission fee, with discounts for seniors, children and families.

The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction is on the eastern bank of Windermere Lake in England’s Lake District. It is in Bowness-on-Windermere south of the village of Windermere and across the water from Claife Heights. Visit nearby attractions, such as the Windermere Golf Club and Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre. Park at one of the pay-and-display spaces on nearby streets.
