The only drawback is that it’s too far to walk to town but there are plenty of taxis approx £6..
Unfortunately their restaurant wasn’t open as it was a week day but their recommendation of Bangkok 7 Thai restaurant was spot on and a “Must go” place to eat- it was superb!」
「Great place to stay for a few days rest and relaxation. The location is great for walks, dog walks, beach walks or just having a few days in a quiet location to chill.
The hotel manager (Caroline) and staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. The bar and restaurant are constantly busy with locals and visitors that makes for a great friendly atmosphere.
The food was exceptional. It is evident that it’s all home cooked and care and attention is given to taste and quality.

「There was a hiccup during check in due to the hotel not receiving the message about our dog staying with us. The hotel think this is due to Expedia not passing on the message. Anyway, the hotel quickly dealt with the problem and we had a lovely time. The food was excellent.」
「I put in the postcode but car sat nav directed me as far as the local pub only! After turning down a wrong lane past the pub in the pitch dark (9pm on an October evening) ascending up at a dead end I rang the owner who instructed me to carry on past the pub for another 2 miles!
I eventually arrived at a building signposted as the ‘equestrian centre’ so I drove a bit further and ended up driving around some lane in a woods (surrounded by curious deer and badgers!). I rang the owner again and...
「My stay at the Shakespeare was short but will be remembered as a really good experience. I felt like a truly valued customer, everyone was so friendly and helpful.
The room was good and the bed was huge!! It was 2 lovely nights sleep, nice hot shower in the morning followed by a cooked breakfast. It really set me up for the day.
I would most certainly revisit and can recommend it for a good place to stay in Kendal.」
