Ok… reviews are not that good .. and I can understand, however the hotel seems in somewhat of a transition period ; (an old hospital conversion it seems with period architecture) ….work being done and plaster foot prints all through the dining hall when we arrived . Man behind desk was helpful and talkative once he understood us (yes , it’s the north and a lot of Asian run hotels now ) and a nice friendly guy. First impressions … hotel needs brightening and updating. Walk up to first floor to our ‘ upgraded’ room …first impression was the damp smell.. not great. Big four poster bed … tv not tuned in .. blinds instead of curtains and a window that didn't close properly … big bathroom ( shower only )… his n hers sinks ( with wobbly taps !!)… frosted glass and no curtains BUT.. clean bedding, plenty of towels and soap and shampoo bodywash provided. Breakfast was fine , and quickly served. Choice of standard breakfast ( egg, bacon ,sausage hash brown , beans and two toast. Help yourself to serial snd instant coffee/ tea ; or a Halal breakfast or veggie of similar food. No fuss . Parking limited but we were fine , in after midnight. To be honest , for a one night stay was fine … staff were pleasant I’d stay again . Could be a lovely place when upgraded.

The Internet was down when I checked. Which was sorted promptly and a member of staff came to let me know. It was remote check in . No staff to see. But the staff was efficient and polite. The room was clean, comfortable and seamed to have been recently refurbished. It was above a restaurant that I never found to be open. There was a bar on site that was quiet and never disturbed me. My only issue with the area was I struggle to get food that I as okay with As I can have a delicate stomach. I'm not sure on afghan food. But a busy food street 15 min walk way.

The room wasn't clean. Beds were made, clean towels but the bath panel and floor was thick with dust and there was toothpaste on the unit around the sink. No toilet roll either. Walls are paper thin and I had to tell some inconsiderate person who was chatting loudly in the hallway at 11pm too. Loud snoring from one side and can hear next door running their water as well which was extremely loud too. Lifts didn't work. Generally tired and dated hotel
