A 200-year-old traditional fisherman’s cottage set in one of Whitby’s most beautiful and historic old yards, right in the heart of the old town and just 2 minutes’ walk from the harbour.
The cottage sits within a quiet cul-de-sac of just six cottages, facing original historic outhouses. This unique setting creates a rare sense of peace and space that is hard to find in Whitby. Even on the busiest days, the yard remains calm and undisturbed, with no passing foot traffic — all you’ll hear is the sound of the seagulls.
Despite this peaceful setting, you are perfectly positioned, with Whitby’s shops, restaurants, harbour and attractions all just a short stroll from the entrance to the yard.
The cottage is double-fronted, giving it a more spacious and open feel than many traditional properties in Whitby, while still retaining its original character and charm.
It sleeps up to six guests. The main bedroom features a very large and exceptionally comfortable queen-size bed with a high-quality mattress and topper. The second bedroom offers twin beds, and additional sleeping is available in the lounge with a double sofa bed.
The living space is comfortable and practical, with fast wireless broadband and TVs in the lounge and bedrooms, making it suitable for both short breaks and longer stays.
A free parking permit is provided for West Cliff car park, a short walk away. Guests can briefly stop nearby to unload on arrival. The property is pet-friendly.
Bed linen is provided, along with towels for four guests.
This is a traditional period property and is best suited to guests who appreciate character, history and a unique Whitby setting, rather than modern hotel-style accommodation.
