「For £60 a night I had a clean and comfy bed, a hot shower, and a tea and coffee station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, it is a little noisy and crooked, but it's an old pub with normal pub hours so that's to be expected. I'm a female in my early 30s travelling on my own and I felt very safe and welcomed. Obviously this is not the hotels fault so still rating a 5, but just make sure you have a decent car to get there as the route is very steep and goes through a mountain range. The...

「Stayed three nights with my wife. Being very close to Wasdale, 40min drive, it is convenient for climbing Mt. Scafell Pike. Room is spacious with a splendid view. One down point is that the pub on the ground floor is sometimes, on Friday evening in particular, noisy. 」

「Gorgeous hotel, rooms were well appointed... No TV was an added bonus! Lounge area was lovely to sit in the evening, playing one of the many boardgames. Restaurant was a little cramped (but this might have been due to the beautiful Christmas tree that was on display) but the food was incredible! We will definitely be back!」

The room was extremely comfortable and clean exactly what we needed after a long day in the hills. Super friendly locals and good food even threw in a extra sausage with my breakfast for the pooch. 「Great hotel if cycling C2C, as they serve breakfast from 4am. Cycles allowed in rooms too. Very clean, although my bathroom was very small and fitted with a movement light, which meant it going dark whilst in the shower」
