"The hotel is a bit off the beaten path but the amenities of the hotel were what sold us, however the sauna and hot tub were not available, nor were options to look at any of the farm to table process that the website mentions. Room temperature is controlled by staff and our room was HOT! We had asked that it be set cooler but that did not happen so it was hard to get to sleep. With all of that said, the pool area was lovely! The breakfast was incredible and the staff are very lovely."

"The views from up at the Vila Gale Douro hotel of the surrounding hills and valley was beautiful. The pool was excellent and so nice to take in the view."

"Front desk staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfasts, and breakfast staff were very good. Housekeeping was also very good. Views from the hotel were beautiful and the location is excellent. Parking was relatively easy. Hotel pool and surrounding area was very tired looking and needed umbrellas or some sort of shaded area and decor. Rooms were very dated and carpet was very worn. We booked three rooms and two of the couples commented that their beds were uncomfortable and needed to be replaced. All of us felt that it was a good place to go if you are only staying for a short time. At one time this hotel would have been stunning. With some renovations it could be a real gem again."

"This quaint, beautiful property overlooking the Douro River was breathtaking! In the 'valley of the wolf', the vantage point of the valley was amazing and beyond peaceful. The room was cozy, balcony shared but not intrusive, inclusive breakfast was delicious and the 'honor system' for drinks made you feel like home! It was a perfect stay for our all-go time tasting port. The village was charming as well."

"Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Paola et Valentin ! Ce sont des hôtes exceptionnels, accueillants, disponibles et toujours de bon conseil pour découvrir la région.Dès notre arrivée, nous avions réservé un délicieux repas de cochon de lait, une excellente idée qui nous a permis de commencer notre séjour de la meilleure des façons.Un immense merci également à leur belle-sœur, Adriana qui est coiffeuse, elle s’est déplacée jusqu’au logement pour nous coiffer avant un mariage. Un service attentionné et très apprécié qui a rendu ce moment encore plus spécial.Merci à tous pour votre gentillesse, votre disponibilité et toutes vos attentions. Nous recommandons ce logement les yeux fermés et reviendrons avec grand plaisir !"
